I have a cousin, Randy, a woman, and when she went to Ireland for business, she needed to use her middle name. Apparently, anytime her name was mentioned, people would break out into hysterical laughter since randy means h o r n y in europe!

Re: When people mispell or mispronounce your name
It's funny- my maiden name (which I still use at work) is the simplest thing, and yet people butcher it very often. When it's at work, and it's because someone has a different first language, it doens't bug me, because they're relying on their native pronounciations. When a telemarketer (I still get calls to my maiden name) calls me from Ohio or wherever they are, I get annoyed. Because it's so easy.

Re: When people mispell or mispronounce your name
My DH's last name is spelled a very unusual way and it bothers him when people get it wrong. That's why I kept my own name

Re: When people mispell or mispronounce your name
No - I'm a low talker. For some reason "Barbara" sounds like "Margaret" in a loud setting. As for the last name, well it's a hard to say one, so it doesn't bother me at all. It does bother DH that I try to simplify it by saying "It rhymes with coronary"

Re: When people mispell or mispronounce your name
Some of my friends that I've known 1/2 my life still spell my maiden name and my current last name wrong- it gets me a little annoyed but whatever. There are worse things that they could be doing!

Re: When people mispell or mispronounce your name
It used to really annoy me- especially when it's written so clearly on here. But between my first name, my maiden name and my married name I am so used to it by now that I don't get that phased by it anymore

Nah, sometimes I get Mr. because my name is Christian and that irks me a little but I get over it. I've butchered plenty of names in my lifetime--hell, I'm lucky if I remember your name-I'm so bad with names!
