I read that you should have someone else introduce it, you should not be around, and that they shouldn't be super hungry so they don't get too worked up.

That said, I tried having DH and MIL give it and DD wouldn't take it. Tried another time and same thing. I finally went to BRU and looked through the bottles to see what looked the most like me and bought tommee tippee bottles (I had been trying avent). A few days later DD woke up hungry when I had just finished pumping and was not satisfied after nursing. Tried the new bottles and she took it from me without a problem and has ever since!

We introduced them much earlier but my LC had us feed them a special way to mimic the breast.
Hold them upright and have the milk halfway in the nipple. They have to suck they way they do at the breast. When they stop sucking, pull it out and put it on their chin. When they're ready for more, they will look for it and you can pop it back in their mouth. We haven't really had nipple preference although they never were great latchers to begin with.
We tried the playtex drop ins but I dont think the nipple was shaped well. Born free is working well for us.Chat Icon

Def have some one else give the bottle. We introducd a bottle with bm at 3 weeks and ds took it with no issues. We started using breastflows, and when he was a little older, we used dr. Browns.
