xpost from Pregnancy board- Good Sam C Sections

Im so nervous, its unreal. Just found out that I will be going in, tomorrow or Friday.

can you tell me your experience please??!

some of my fears/concerns specifically are...

im super super claustrophobic and am terrified of my hands being tied down. i know this is just policy but any advice on how to deal with this? and also, the sheet being so close to my face making me feel closed in?

im scared of freaking out about being numb on my chest/heart area and feeling like i cant breathe.. (are you numb on your chest?) and also scared that being totally flat and my head not raised that ill also feel like i cant breathe.

of course nervous about recovery and pain and all that but that is what it is...

oh and really importantly, im upset that i know DHs arent really allowed to stay overnight. but with having just had a csection especially the first night, that sounds crazy. if baby is with me, ill have to call the nurse every two minutes. i am going to feel forced to not have the baby with me since i wont be able to reach to get him, etc. and this upsets me. What was your experience at Good Same like, with dh and staying over

Re: xpost from Pregnancy board- Good Sam C Sections

I had an unplanned C Section at Good Sam. I'll just tell you my experience.

They did not tie down my arms. The sheet wasn't that close to my face, I think you'll be ok with the claustrophobia issues. My chest was not numb. At one point I did have some chest pains but I told the anesthesiologist right away and he did something to make it go away.

DH not being able to sleep over kind of stunk but I was fine. The baby was in the room with me the whole time. The nurses would come in to help me whenever I buzzed for them (which was pretty often). I was EBF so he had to be in the room with me regardless. You will be fine, I promise! Best of luck!

I had a section at good Sam. I had tried for vaginal delivery but DS did not cooperate. So much depends on your dr. My arms were tied down but with all the drugs I really didn't care. The sheet is not that close or at least I didn't feel that way.

DH is right there sitting by your head and I had a great anathesiologist. And they are right at your head.

It is so quick too that I felt like it was over before I even had time to think about it.

As for after. I was able to get up and move around with very little pain as soon as the catheter was out. If you can't get up they will keep te baby in the nursery for you but if the baby is fussy they bring it to you. I did not need DH to be there. I know that some have horrible recoveries but many are not bad and I just pushed through and did what I needed to do.

You will be fine. I have such a foggy memory of most of my hospital stay since it went by so fast.

Re: xpost from Pregnancy board- Good Sam C Sections

I had two c sections at Good Sam and want to tell you you are in great hands. Both my c sections were emergency so didn't have time to mentally prepare but looking back it goes so quickly. My hands were not tied down and the sheet was not that close to my face. Your hubby and anesthesiologist will be right there with you. I only felt numb waist down, never in my chest at all. Also was very sleepy right after surgery. They are not strict on visiting hours at all, not sure if they changed in last 2 years but your husband can stay really late and be there first thing in morning. Trust me you will be so tired and nurses help with everything. Best of luck to you and before you know it your baby will be in your arms.

I had an unscheduled, preeclamptic csection and Good Sam and it was a good experience, considering..I was not tied down...my head and body were out in the open, so claustrophobia should be ok..I did have issues with breathing but I was very big and had a lot of anesthesia injected...they were super attentive and my anesthesiologist was terrific..I did have a little nausea but he fixed it immediately...it did stink for DH not to stay, but he went home for rest and it was really fine..the nurses were terrific, too...

Re: xpost from Pregnancy board- Good Sam C Sections

I had a c section at almost midnight there. I wasn't in a room til 2 and dh stayed til 2:30. I was so tired that I just slept. My room mate had hers in the day and her dh and family came up to the room with her afterwards.

The sheet wasnt near my face at all. My chest wasnt numb. I just felt pressure below my waist. I did feel they I couldn't breathe properly but they told me it was the baby on my diaphragm. B was really up high that day. I forgot about it quicy once they told me it was ok.
