EXTREMELY busy 19 month old
My ds is 19 months and he doesn't stop from the moment he wakes up until he goes to sleep at night. He climbs everything, throws food on the floor, will put TP in bowl when given opportunity (door left open). He doesn't play but likes to take things a part like the vacuum or throw all the pillows from the couch on the floor. He has no interest in T.V and I wish he did so I could get a bit of a break. I work FT and DH has been working 12 hours since Sandy and hasn't had a day off since Halloween. I'm exhausted. My dd was busy but not like this. I find myself losing patience and starting to raise my voice with him . Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is my 19m DD. she is the exact way you describe your son. I have an almost 3yr old too and she was NEVER this crazy. My little one is non stop. I can't take it. She climbs on everything. Piles things on top of each other just to get higher. She stands on my tables, she throws everything on the floor . She wants to be held all day. Doesn't play with toys and if she does she just throws them all over.
Sometimes I just throw them in the car and drive around cause at least I know she's contained in the car seat and I consider that my break :(
I hope she tires herself out soon lol I can't do it anymore!

You just described my 19 month old I miss the days when he could be contained in a crib! He climbs everything... I have to tell him to get off the dinning table(bar height) about 20 times a day. Drives me crazy

me too! mine are 3 1/2 and 19 mo. i thought it was gonna be ok but they keep me BUSY!

this is my son exactly. He is also 19 months. I think it's the age, I try to keep my cool, when I get aggravated I step out of the room for a second and take a few deep breaths.

my DD is very active too but maybe not to the extent that your's is from what you say. I thought my DD wasn't interested in toys either, but once I sat down with her and showed her HOW to play with certain toys she became more interested. Now she takes toys out on her own and will sit and play longer now that she knows what to do with them! HTH!

Oh no... DH and I joke that DD (13 mos) is very busy all the time. Busy body. Always must be doing something (usually mischevous). I am now fearing the 19mos mark!

Funny that you have toilets still open. We put locks on them, tossed out all our pillows and baby proofed like crazy.

I have a lock on the toilet and she BROKE it. Yup, she snapped that shit right off the seat! I can barely unlock it and she goes And breaks it.
My DH installed new cabinets in the kitchen and I still don't have knobs on the doors. Now she can't open the cabinets to empty them out! She's insane lol

Yup!! He broke them. House guests broke them, too. I don't even say baby proof. I say DS proof.
Thank you for your suggestions. I agree with sitting and showing him how to play. It's hard working FT though and not having DH's help. There's homework to be done dinner to make and bath time. Hopefully it'll get better as he gets older.

Wow! They can break those? I guess anything is possible.
You should see our house! The magnetic cabinet locks work well (DS has figured them out, but can't reach the magnet).
We have toilet paper up on the window ledge (out of reach) and even the tv is drilled into the walls.
My DS would knock down baby gates, so we drilled them into the walls.
As for the toys, rotating them keeps interest... Inventive play came for us after 2 years old. He liked the press the button turn gears toys before then... But it would only last so long. A pop pop walking toy is a good toy to have and play vacuum with it.

Yes but unfortunately, classes aren't really offered for times I'm home from work. My mom did about 5 or 6 classes at the library with him. Also, I have a 5 year old dd so baby proofing EVERYTHING gets a bit in the way of her independence if that makes any sense. All furniture is bolted to the wall. Our gates are drilled into walls, etc. I guess my concern is ADHD and not growing out of it.

Haha!! Me too!! My DS is a handful @ 7 1/2 mos. He is ALL over the place. He's the complete opposite of my DD who never crawled and never even attempted to climb on the furniture.
