ped policy and high fevers Update...in 1st post.
What is your ped office's policy on 5 year olds with temps of 104.9?
UPDATE:
Well spoke with ped and her results were back. He said her numbers were really high and she has mono which is why she is so sick.

as far as medication or going to the ER?
my son runs high fevers when sick, my ped says mortin, piggybacked with tylenol and compresses on back of neck and wrists with lukewarm water, not cold.

ETA: my kids have always responded to that, their fevers might not break all the way but at least down to 101-102ish

My old ped would say call at 104 and go to Er at 105. This office they were very like piggy back and increased her meds from 1.5 to 2 and watch her for the rest of the night ( she was crying from her headache and saying the lights hurt her eyes.) She is finally sleeping. I have to wake her and check her at 9.
We were at the peds yesterday and they are concerned about her as she just had something similar 3 weeks ago and they think she "might" have something other than a fever virus but labs won't be back for 3 days. They told me if she got worse, fe er up, or looked sicker to call right away. But the ped I spoke with last night was like eh. She gets 104 and 103 in the past but has never been as high as 104.9

If in doubt,go to the ER or a clinic for a second opinion. 104.9 is too high for me. And with the other symptoms you mentioned yesterday, I would be concerned

Mom thinks I should take her infectious disease ped for a 2nd opinion. Her fever is coming down with meds. My other concern is last time after being 103 and 104 she ended up 95.7, the 101, then 95.7 for 2 days. The did a virus cilture last time which tested for the flu and several other viruses and that was negative. Her ears are clear, nose is clear, lungs and ears. Her throat was very slightly pink but no blisters or anything that jumped out at them. No vomiting etc. Just bad pain on top of her head.

i had an appt with infectious disease for my son, he has high (over 104) for 8 days. it broke the day of the appt.
did they run blood cultures too? is her WBC count high?
what other symptoms does she have?

Is she coughing at all? Did they send her for a chest x-ray? DD had the same symptoms and it turned out she had pneumonia.

No coughing last time she was sick her WBC was okay but that is one of the tests they were checking with her vials that they took. She did projectile vomit once a little while ago and I am waiting for her ped to call me back bc I was told to call if she vomited. Now she is saying one of her legs is hurting same as time. She only complains of her leg not arms, back etc. She is actually asking for me to take her to the doctor.

I would take her... (unless she normally asks to be taken to the doctor!) it sounds like something is really off. Hope she feels better really soon!

I would definitely bring her back to the ped. And I am the type to usually just wait these viral things out, but this does sound like it warrants a return visit.
