How far in advance do you plan your holiday meals?

How far in advance do you plan your holiday meals?
I'm curious: how far in advance do you plan when hosting a major holiday meal (including inviting family/friends?) And how late is considered 'late'?

I usually plan the menu about 10 days in advance (depending upon how much else I have going on).
As far as inviting people, I'd say I casually start mentioning it maybe a month before. I'll give all the details a couple to a few weeks before. Maybe that's a bit too soon in general though...but DH and I host every holiday, so it's pretty much just known that people will be coming here.

I start thinking abou menus and jotting down ideas maybe 3 weeks before.

Same. As far as inviting, I have to do it at least two months in advance. I have a big family and it is difficult to get them all to be in one place at the same time without a few months notice.
