exterior doors

So we are almost done with our house reno project and need to pick out a front door with side lights.. Wow they seem so $$ i was so surprised..What brands have you all bought and do you like them..Pros Vs Cons? Is the door fiberglass, steel or wood and did you have it stained or did you paint or stain your self. Also if you don't mind sharing how much you paid for the door. We wanted one that had wood grains in it but i am not sure it is in the budget anymore..It seems they all want over 5,000 for the door and side lights..Chat Icon

Re: exterior doors

we went with a fiberglass with a center circle window with the wood grain look.

I do not remember it being that much money. my DH and i seem to remember it being under $1000. we did not get sidelights even though I wanted them... Chat Icon

I have a GREAT door installer if you need someone to install the door. Chat Icon

Re: exterior doors

fiberglass woodgrain stained door
huge transom - clear glass
2 full sidelights

$5500
with the custom design glass for the transom it would've been $7500

Re: exterior doors

we just recently had ours replaced - with sidelights. we had someone come to the house and I kid you not - they quoted us between 14-17k. after I stopped laughing, i kindly showed the guy to the front door Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

we ended up going with Home Depot - everything was awesome, we paid about 4300.00.

it is good grain, stained "mahogany" a bit more red than I thought it would be but I've grown to love it with our gray shakes.

we got a Thermatru Craftsman - hard to see here, ill try to find a google image of it.
