Are there any stores left there any more? I haven't been there in so long. I wonder what they will put...

This is so sad but with all the stores and mall close to that same area, that mall was a waste. Just too much competition close by killed it.

The GM at Chesecake Factory said they are not leaving. I wonder who long there lease is and if they can force them out.
Its a shame I grew up right off of Old Country road now its all stores and congestion and forget the way people drive down that road!

The building is underwater on its mortgage, so a foreclosure can toss them out I'm sure.
The problem with that mall was its layout. It's ridiculous to navigate being that you have to go upstairs, walk across the mall, and back downstairs to get to certain stores. It's silly. I think some people also will go into the restaurants, Old Navy, and not realize there is a mall to go into behind them.

I actually loved that mall! It was easy to park and get in and out. When I was home with a baby and toddler, that is where I would go, because it was less congested and I could let them loose a bit more lol. The carousel is great. Also, I loved all of the kids outlet stores, plus LOFT, Nine West Outlet, H&M, Old Navy, etc.

I agree- that whole area on Old Country Road is awful. I don't even want to know how bad it will be when the new mall is built.
Imagine that area during the holidays with RF AND the new mall? Along with all the other stores there (Best Buy, Walmart, Sports Authority, Costco).
It's going to be a traffic nightmare!

Most of the stores in that mall are moving to the new shopping center being built.... Once fortuneoff closed that mall was doomed

Yeah see me too. With my DD we would go on a monday morning, never crowded and go to all the childrens store....that was before 90% of that mall closed. I went about 6 months ago and I was sooo freaked out being there bc it was soooo deserted. I didnt feel comfortable anymore.
Back in the day when Fortunoffs was there that was my favorite place to go!!
When McDonalds closes in a mall....you know it is not good.

The kid stores aren't going to the new mall I don't think. It will be old navy, bloomingdales outlet, the rack, off 5th, container store, trader joes and a few other things.

My parents live in Carle Place and they are dreading the Old Country Rd. traffic come holiday time with that new mall being built. The traffic was bad enough between DSW and Roosevelt Field on regular weekends I can't even imagine it now with this new mall and the holidays coming.
