How much do you need...?

I recently got an over abundance of hand me downs. Everything is in good condition but I think it's simply too much. Two friends gave me things, one of which had twins! So yeah, I have a lot of clothes. I was wondering how many gowns, sleep and plays etc... you recommend.

Re: How much do you need...?

It's hard to know exactly how many of what you'll need.

I was given tons of hand me downs when I was PG with DS. He was due in May, so some of the things weren't the "right" season (my friends boys were January & October).

I went thru everything & kept what wasn't stained- thing that were stained or I didn't care for I have to another friend and donated stuff.

I was a big fan of the gowns w/ the fold over sleeves for sleeping in. So I kept the few she had and bought more. We never used sleep sacks. And sleep & plays we use a few, but again, the ones she gave me that fit were too heavy of a material for when DS was born.

Of the hand me downs I felt te outfits were what I got the most use out of

i don't think you'll know how much until the baby is here. i would just go through the stuff and separate it by pieces and sizes, so it will be easy to find/get to when you need something. and i'd also weed out anything stained or that you don't want right from the beginning and put that aside. i'd hang on to everything and then once dd is older, ask her if she wants the stuff back or for you to donate it/pass it along etc.

me too.
I also want to add that BBB has a great checklist if you look at their website that gives a guideline about how much you need of each item.

They can go through a few outfits per day so you winn need a lot. Keep what you like and give away the rest. People will also give you new stuff once the baby is born.

i was given some hand me downs. I went through all of the clothes and picked out what I wanted to keep and put them into seperate piles according to size. I have all the sizes seperated so it will be easier when I am ready to use them. The stuff I didnt want, I put donated it to clothing drop box.

Re: How much do you need...?

Mostly the seasons match. One friend has three girls all in Oct. the month I'm due. I have everythign sorted and with an extra hanging bar I'm still having a hard time fitting 0-3 in the closet. My little girl is just going to have a lot!

they go through alot....... plus if you use daycare they have you bring in some backup clothes too which handme downs are great for.

I ended up never using the sleeping gowns, it was alot of onesies and sleepers in the beginning.

Re: How much do you need...?

I got a ton of newborn from my friend and some other sizes. DD hardly fits in the newborn so I will be packing them up for another friend. I say keep them till you know what you'll need.
