Re: woke up gasping for air
Yikes!! How do you feel now? I've woken up coughing/choking and also woken up with like a heavy / tight chest having trouble breathing.
Let me know what the doc says!
I also sent you a text.

Re: woke up gasping for air
that sounds like typical sleep apnea. my DH has it sometimes (usually when he's heavier or has been around a lot of smoke). it's very common and even more common with pregnancy pushing everything up against your lungs and diaphragm. generally its harmless, the waking up gasping is your body correcting the issue. i doubt the doctor will do anything about it (there really is nothing that you can do during pregnancy), but def call if it makes you feel better.

Re: woke up gasping for air
How far along are you? Were you on your back? The whole premise behind sleeping on your left side is because of a major vein (or artery - forget which) that is underneath your uterus when you are on your back it gets compressed. The Dr has always told me not to worry if I sleep on my back because I will wake up if there is any issue.....maybe that's what happened? I have to sleep on my back sometimes because of hip issues and I sometimes have to roll over because I feel short of breath I'm sure if I stayed that way longer it would just get worse.

Re: woke up gasping for air..update
Thanks everyone.. I was sleeping on my back... im almost 6 mos pg with twins.. I actually had a doctors appt the same morning (my dr has Sunday hours!) anyway, hes sending me to a pulmonary Dr today to have my lungs checked out. the tightness lasted most of the morning but today I feel much better. Im pretty good about sleeping on my side (mostly my left) but somehow I wake up on my back Im sure it's nothing but if he wants it checked out, im getting it checkd out.
