Opinions on Doppler
This post is a spin-off from a question posted on Pregnancy After Infertility.
I bought a fetal doppler because after years of trying to conceive, IUIs, Meds, IVF, etc...I find myself to be very nervous about the pregnancy.
I bought, what I thought, was a Sonoline-B (as recommended all over the place).
Now, I thought it was odd that they sold for $200 at Walgreens online, but I could get one for $58 at http://www.clinicalguard.com/ (which I got to through Amazon)
When it came in the mail, I realized it was a knock-off from China. It looks the same, and on the back of the doppler itself it reads "Model: Sonoline B" (notice - no dash). The box just says "Fetal Doppler" and the gel is a plain tube with a sticker half placed on it.
Needless to say, while I know there are dozens of women (if not more!) who use this same one frequently (as it seems to be all over the internet), I have been afraid to try it. All I picture is electrocuting my little one.
What are your thoughts? Should I try it? It would make me feel tons better and I might actually decide to tell our parents the big news (after 14 weeks of no one knowing!). My next drs. appt isn't for another 3 weeks...
TIA!!

i think i'd return it and write a complaint for false advertising (did it say it's a knockoff on amazon?).
but if you really want to use it, i'd try to find out more info on the knockoff brand first - does it use the same frequency waves as the real ones? has anybody used it and had any problems? etc.

Re: Opinions on Doppler
i would probably return it....but if you plan on keeping it, def do your research
from what i read on walgreens the sonoline-b uses 2MHz while the one you got used 3MHz frequency

I would be nervous to buy a knock-off with something that I'd imagine could possibly be harmful. I think I would return it and write an angry review. That's really awful if they're trying to pass it off as something that it's not.

I would return it immediately and not put it anywhere near your belly...
