How dilated were you before you got the epidural?
How dilated were you before you needed the epidural? I want to get it as soon as I can. I wasn't able to have one last time because my platelet count dropped too low. Thanks

I had labored for 5 hrs and was still only 1cm dilated when I got the epi.

I arrived at the hospital at between 4-5 cm
At that point I felt the pain was manageable but my Dr suggested I get it right then before it got any worse- he knew what a wimp I was and that I didn't want to feel too much of anything! 
By the time I got the blood results back, the IV fluid in, and the anastehelogist arrived I was probably 5 cm or a bit more- and at that point the contractions were getting more painful so I am glad I took my Dr's advice and got the ball rolling as soon as I was checked.

i believe i was 4-5 cm, but by the time they offered it, consulted the dr, waited for anesthesiologist etc, it was almost 3 hours before i actually got it!

I got to the hospital at 9cm! I thought they were joking! But baby needed to come down some more so I was able to get it. Less than two hours later DD was born. Oh, and they turned off the epi when it was time to push. It slowly wore off as I was pushing so at end I did feel some pain.

I was just about fully dilated I believe. My labor progressed quick (i went from 4 cm to 10 in like 20 mins) and the contractions came so hard and fast that I was crying for the epi at that point  I tried to see how long I could go without it but omg did it get intense

8 cm and I was induced!!!!! I probably should have just tried without it at that point, but I couldn't take the pain any more!!!!

I had been walking around for days at 4 cm and they gave it to me after they broke my water and had started pitocin. I really didn't want an epi but once the contractions really kicked in heavy I realized I couldn't tolerate hours of that pain. I'm clearly not as tough as I thought.

3--4 cm both times!
The first time I felt nothing, it was great
The second time the epi didn't take- it was not so great 
I give anyone and everyone who voluntarily does natural child birth a standing ovation !!!!!!!

3-4 cms. I actually did not need it yet but my Dr wanted to up the pitocin to get things moving!

Only 2-3 cm after an hr of hard labor. Got it and was at 8 cm in an hr. I think it relaxed my body so I could progress.

No freaking idea. Not more than 4cm, not less than 2. And I walked around for hours before getting it but they had to start pitocin. It is such a blur... and I made my dh write down everything that was going on but we have NO idea what happened to the paper
