telling parents

DH and I plan on telling my parents next week after our first ultrasound. They are not first time grandparents (my sister has children) but it is our first.
Anyone have a creative way to tell their parents??

Re: telling parents

we just told our parents (and family) yesterday Chat Icon

we just showed up with DS in his "big brother" shirt and let everyone figure it out. it was funny that SO MANY people hugged him and kissed him hello and totally missed his shirt. A few got it right away, everyone was very happy Chat Icon

With out first, we got signs that said "grandma's kitchen" with some saying about cookies etc and "grandpa's garden" and wrote the date on the back and baby coming with EDD.

We wrapped them and they opened them and their faces were priceless!

Re: telling parents

My IL's are going to be 1st Grandparents but my Father & his wife already have a few. We wanted to do something fun so I put a shot of the U/S in two frames and gave it to them as gifts (this was Christmas Eve). We then taped them opening them. It is beyond hysterical b/c they kept turning the frames around and around in their hands. They had NO idea what they were looking at. My dad thought it was some type of touch screen photo frame Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Finally my SIL, who is a Dr saw what they were looking at and screamed out, "Your Pregnant?!?!?!?!?!?" and the madness ensued from there & my FIL broke out in sobs. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon It was a great moment & I am so happy we have it on tape.

We got our dog a shirt from cafepress.com that said "I'm going to be a big brother". We put it in on him and waited for them to see it!

Re: telling parents

my mom's getting married in August (baby's due in October) so DH and I told her that it's a good thing she chose August because a few months later she'd be "really old" ... she was confused and asked why so we told her that she would be a grandmother if she waited any longer.

My poor mom was so confused! Finally she figured out i was pregnant and was so so excited Chat Icon

as for the in-laws, we weren't going to see them in person for a while so we just told them on the phone. nothing exciting. MIL cried hysterically anyhow and was just happy to hear the news (she didn't care how we told her)

We broke the news on mother's day and got both sets of mom's onesies that said "I'm going to grandma's house". Watching them open the gifts and get confused/super excited was so fun!
