BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
I know the boppy is the #1 sold baby product and is recommended by almost every BTDT mom I know. I purchased one, still in the packaging and I was looking at it... and I just don't feel like it will be useful or that it is something I would really want/need. I hear all the positive things about it, I was wondering if there was anyone out there who didn't like it or didn't see it as a necessity. If so, please explain why.

I never found a use for it and I nurse. I did use it in the hospital when my DH's little sister came to visit. I let her put it on her lap and I placed my DS in it. I could have gone without it.

Re: BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
I am in the minority and could definitely live without it. I used it while nursing for about a week but since then have been nursing without it. The only time we use it now is to prop up DD. We put it in the middle of our bed and sit her in it (she's 7 weeks). When she's fussy sometimes I put her in there and turn on music and it really calms her down. For that purpose, I do like it. Other than that I could do without it.

Re: BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
I know you asked for those who dislike the boppy, but I want to give you a few reasons to possibly try it. When dd was first born, I used it for nursing, which was great after my csection. We also used it to prop her up when a kid wanted to "hold her". After my supply tanked and we had to start formula, we would position her in the boppy and feed her her bottle. She is now 9 months and for her first and last bottles, she still lays in it. It is amazing for modified tummy time. I used to put her over it on an angle on top hof her activity mat and she loved it. Sitting her up in it when she wasn't quite able to sit up on her own.

Re: BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
I know you want DISLIKES but I LOVE LOVE LOVE mine. DD is still BF at 14 months and we still use it for every single session unless it's on a different floor of the house or we're lying down in bed. It really just makes it so much more comfortable for me. I occasionally use a regular pillow and it's nowhere near as helpful or comfortable. I didn't know if I would really use the Boppy before DD was born but I must say it's one of my most used baby items. I'm sorry if this isn't what you're looking for though!

We dont use ours as much as i thought we would. It didnt completely go to waste but sometimes its easier for me to use a regular pillow when feeding him.

It's certainly worth trying!
I used it for feedings for the first few months and we used it for tummy time for a long time because DD didn't like to be face-down directly on the floor (you still get the benefit of tummy time, but they're propped up which they like more). When she was first learning to sit up on her own by herself, I put it around her like a donut so if she fell over, she was cushioned. When my brother came to hold DD for the first time he was really nervous, so he put the boppy on and held her on it and it made him feel so much more comfortable!
You could certainly return it now and use other items to do all the things mentioned or you could keep it and see. I'm sure you could live without it, but you're sure to waste more than $30 on baby stuff in the next many, many months, so why not keep it for now and see if you use it. You could always resell it on Craig's List or something if you find you never use it.

Re: BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
we used ours sparingly. my DD was so small that it was almost too big to prop her up in. and i had the breast friend pillow for nursing (which i quickly abandoned once i got the hang of nursing).
anyway we did use it but not as much as i thought we would. that being said, i dont think you can go by what other people say, you need to find out for yourself. everyone told me that i would hate the bumbo and it ended up being one of my favorite things for a few months. it's one of those live and learn type items.

Re: BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
I used mine for feeding but now that DS is getting older I am finding other uses. He is sitting up but gets excited and falls over so I put the boppy behind him so if he falls there is something soft to catch him.

Re: BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
Nursed for 13 months are barely ever used it for that. Tried to use it when bf-ing early on, but could never get it in a good spot. However, I did use it to sit on for the first week home. it took some pressure off my sore spots, and when DD got bigger I used it to help support her when she was sitting up.

Re: BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
Yes, it was uncomfortable for me and kept slipping out of place. Most i found it useful for was holding DC after my c-section. I LOVED the My Brest Friend for breastfeeding purposes, that was a lifesaver for me and kept DC nursing.

I used my breast friend in the hospital and it was more comfortable for me. The boppy is useful too because you can put the baby in it for tummy time and also to just hang out...I use my boppy everyday.

Eh, I am 50 50 on it. I don't need it but like propping him up on it and others seem to like it. He is 3 months now and props up for a few in it.

Re: BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
I loved it. I bottle fed and it was very helpful to lay him on the boppy while he ate. Also the first couple of months it was just an easy place to lay DS, also good for tummy time

Re: BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
I didn't really need mine at all. I found it terribly uncomfortable, even though I had a c-section. I never really needed to prop him on it either b/c he loved tummy time.

I loved it, but have heard that the Breast Friend pillow was even better and had back support.
One thing I've learned about parenting: you're going to do/say/use things you never thought you would.

Re: BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
I used it a few times and hated it. It was uncomfortable for me to use, and put it away. My sister loved hers and thought I was crazy for not liking it.

Re: BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
Me! I bought one with my first DS, almost never used it. Fast forward 5 years, and I bought another one, forgetting that I didn't use it the first time around! Also haven't really used it in these past 8 months since DS #2 was born. DH has been yelling at me for buying stuff I don't use....haha!

Re: BTDT- Anyone DISLIKE the boppy?
OK - I will admit that I NEVER used it for my DD - HOWEVER, I did make great use of is for myself once I got home from the hospital and was very sore "down there"! It was a great seat!! I would put it on the couch and sit on it while I nursed her! But I never did end up using it for the baby! ha! LOL

its a pillow that is usually used to help hold the baby while you are nursing but it can be used to just prop the baby up and later can be used to practice tummy time. Image Attachment(s):
