What area are you looking in? The daycare that we will be using in N. Bellmore only charges for the hours that you're using it. They have monthly, daily, and hourly rates.

Re: part time day care
It's rare that you'll find a p/t rate at day care because all babies need their own crib. But they are out there. Good luck!

This is very true. I was actually very surprised that the one that we're using, which is a group family daycare setting, was so flexible. I will be working full time, but will be off for certain weeks, and they are not charging me for those weeks. My MIL might be baby sitting 2 days per week, and they said that was fine. Very unusual flexibility. I will FM you the info.

Re: part time day care
I would look into private care. It is worth it because you won't have to spend for full-day care, plus your child is cared for 1 on 1. if you want your child to be around other children, find activities or classes your child can join that the private nanny/babysitter could take your LO to.

Re: part time day care
I had the same issue and we wound up getting private care at a Nanny's home. We love her and couldn't be happier

Re: part time day care
If you only want a few hours I would look into a private sitter or in home daycare.
Centers will charge you by the day. And many will only take newborns full time.
I found it was very hard to find a part time (full days only 2 days a week) because they would give a spot to full time over you unless they had soemone for the other days.
