Preparing the Nursery Question

I want to have a diaper changing basket next to the changing pad so that we can just quickly grab it and bring it wherever we need it and always have everything right there.

Now obviously diapers go in there, baby wipes and diaper rash cream, but is there anything else I will need on hand that should be put in the basket?

This might be a dumb question, but why do I need the q-tips?

Hand sanitizer
Nail clippers (my ds was ok with clipping when awake but some moms wait until baby is sleeping)
Nasal aspirator

Re: Preparing the Nursery Question

qtips are for dabbing alcohol around the cord stub until it falls off (some peds say not to, ours said to).

We keep saline drops in ours, along with a nasal aspirator (we use the one we got at the hospital -- it's by far the best one!).

There was a lot more in there when DD was a newborn -- stuff like tiny washcloths, A&D lotion, diaper rash cream -- but none of that is in there anymore. As you see what you use/need, it changes. We had about 4 different waterproof pads of different sizes in there so there were ones to swap out with the ones on the changing pad depending on if/when/how much DD peed or pooped during a diaper change (that's very common the first few weeks).

Applying diaper cream
Cleaning ears after a bath
Dabbing alcohol on the cord stump
