HOw are you pricking your finger? I had lancets in a little push pen type of thing. It had a dial on it to increase or decrease the depth of the lancet. It was so quick, easy and painless. A few times I clicked the pen and didn't get enough blood, so I just did it again at a softer spot on my finger.

A few times, I had to sort of squeeze around where I pricked myself to get some blood to ooze. Good times.

Re: Is that all it took?

im using the pen prick thing too. i also squeezed and a tiny drop came out. whats a good soft spot on my finger? what number on the dial will prick the hardest. i really dont want this happening again.

oh is it bad that i took the test 2hrs and 20mins after the start of my meal? does it mess up the numbers that bad?

I was able to get blood with the pen set to 2 or 3. A soft spot of your finger is the actual pads where your fingerprints are. The best fingers for me were always my middle or ring finger. Waiting that long definitely will change your results.

Re: Is that all it took?

maybe try drinking more water. when you're more hydrated, it helps. i was told washing your hands with warm water also helps the blood flow more than washing with cold water.

also, see what dial your pin is set on. i usually get a good prick at 3 but sometimes need to dial it up to 4 for a deeper one.

the closer you are to the middle of the finger, the more likely you are to get a good drop of blood. However, the middle pad part of your finger is also the most sensitive.

Squeeze from the bottom and work your way up. I am able to get from any finger due to that. i was told to use the side of your finger fat pad. Shouldnt be waiting that long. Should be within the 2 hour time frame. Shouldnt wait longer than that.

Re: Is that all it took?

There are times when I don't get enough blood and it's frustrating. Try running your hands under warm water. If your fingers are cold, they won't bleed well. Point your fingers down and apply pressure to the middle of your palm. Then, with your fingers still pointing down, apply pressure to the finger you're going to prick. When you prick your finger, try not to do it too close to the nail bed. After you prick your finger, slide two fingers from your other hand down the finger and apply pressure in order to release more blood. HTH. Chat Icon

i agree put the level of the inject up to 2 or higher on the poker(?) push it into your finger, trigger it and then squeeze finger up to tip ,you may have to put your hand down so the blood flows into your hand.

i usually dont push the strip into the meter until I have a drop of blood first. since I wasted so many

Im pretty sure it does. One time I took my number on time and then again 5mins later (just for the heck of it) and there was a significant difference. You should really try to take your reading as close to 2hrs as possible in order to get the best reading.
