What can you take for a bad cold?
My head is killing me, I have an awful cough and just feel terrible! Really hoping this doesn't become a sinus infection, which I'm prone too.
What do you girls take when sick? My current doc is so hard to get a hold of, and I've been reading mixed things online. My normal go to is Advil cold and sinus, but I know that's on the NO list. Looking for some suggestions.

Unfortunatley, nothing. You have to suffer through it. You could take a regular or extra strength Tylenol, but that's about it. Drink plenty of fluids and take it easy. Feel better!

This is the list of safe meds I got from my Doc:
Plain Robitussin
Regular Tylenol
Plain sudafed
Afrin nasal spray
Tums
Mylanta
Senecot Laxative
Claratin
Flu shots
Penicillin
Benedryl

I'm in the same situation right now...and I'm very prone to sinus infections as well. I've been taking Tylenol, Benadryl and doing sinus rinses. it's def. not as good as cold& sinus formulas but its been helping me a little

thanks ladies. i'll look for these, but definitely finding it hard to locate any "plain" meds these days. everything is multi-symptom, long acting, quick release, cold & flu. oh well!

I have a very bad cold right now and was given a VERY different list of yes/nos to these. I was told ABSOLUTELY NO sudafed or afrin. I really need the nasal spray too but my OB said no way.
Claratin during the day and benadryl at night to dry you up. I'm on amoxicillan because he was worried it was strep. You can use saline nose spray (doesn't do anything for me but I keep squirting it up there anyway).
It really really stinks being sick while pregnant. Feel better!

when you go to the store speak to the pharmacist they will point you to the generic brand if they do not have the name brand

That's interesting, I wonder why that is. I guess the best thing to do then would be to ask the pharmacist. They will know for sure

My mom's matzoh ball soup. It cures morning sickness, too!
eta: ITA with Sandra's list. That looks pretty similar to the one I got. IMO ask your OB to cross-check any info from your pharmacist.
