I am numb
Hi Girls
Went to the Dr today for a sono and there was no heart beat, I am about 11 weeks but the baby stopped growing around 8 weeks 5 days right after my las apt. My husband and I are numb-
Tomorrow I having a D&C. I don't know what to expect, I am super nervous about going under anesthesia.
I am devastated.

I am so sorry for your loss, I went through the same thing in October, found out at 11 week that baby's heart stopped at 8.5 weeks... I am so heartbroken for you
The D&C is not painful or anything, I went in, they put the IV in and next thing I knew I was waking up, didn't have any pain or anything at all. Just had some bleeding and spotting for a couple of weeks .
It's the emotional side of this that hurts the most.

I didn't bleed for long. I have a very sensitive cervix so for the first D&C my obgyn ended up cauterizing my cervix (do not worry about this, it's not common, my cervix is abnormal). As a result I was sealed up tight and had minimal bleeding after. For the 2nd D&C I bled for less than a week, the heaviest bleeding was the day of and it really wasn't that bad. After the first day a thin maxi pad worked fine for me.

This was my experience too ... It was much harder emotionally than physically during all of my losses, except for my natural miscarriage which was VERY hard physically.....
Going to the d&c is just going through the motions.. try to think as little as possible and focus on being back home in your bed by the end of the day. I'm so sorry you are going through this.
FM if you like.. I've been through many losses.
ETA: just saw your question about bleeding... After both my d&e and d&c I did not having much bleeding... I expected it to be much worse than it was. Still, I had a box of 'overnight' pads handy just in case.
