Re: LI town help
We are in North Merrick and love it. One of the elementary schools (Old Mill Rd) was #1 in the sgate for standardized testing this year. The staff is fabulous, from the teachers to the nurse to the support staff. All of the parents are down to earth and my kids have made a ton of friends even though we've only been here since last September. I would definitely reccomend it, we couldnt be happier.

Re: LI town help
We can chat more about this when we talk, but I am very familiar with Merrick and N. Merrick (I live in the next town over, N. Bellmore).
Merrick school district and N. Merrick school district are both elementary school districts (for grades K through 6). Grades 7 through 12 are part of the combined Bellmore-Merrick Central District, which covers Bellmore, N. Bellmore, Merrick, and N. Merrick. In the Central district, there are 2 middle schools (for grades 7 and 8): Grand Avenue (for Bellmore and N. Bellmore) and Merrick Ave. (for Merrick and N. Merrick). Then there are 3 high schools (grades 9 through 12): Kennedy (for south Merrick and south Bellmore), Calhoun (for north Merrick), and Mepham (for North Bellmore).
For the elementary schools, there are 3 for Merrick (Birch, Levy, and Chatterton), and 3 for N. Merrick (Camp Ave., Old Mill, and Fayette). There is full-day kindergarten in both districts, as well as before and after care programs.
