Anyone doing a gender reveal?
Just wanted some ideas on what you're doing..
we can find out in 2 weeks but we leave for vacation  a few days later. I dont think I can wait to tell everyone when I get back but I really wanted to have a gender reveal party...
Trying to think of some ideas that are very low maintenance but still pack the same effect of a gender reveal party...

We are! Just something small for close family...the evening of our sono b/c we are going to wait to find out w/everyone together!
So instead of having two cakes made to represent each baby b/c we won't have time, I'm going to have sono tech write each baby in a separate sealed envelope. When people arrive, I'm going to have them write down their guesses. Then have my parents open & announce baby A & DH's mom for baby b!
Will have pink & blue balloons & a regular cake that I'll just have the bakery write something on.
And little prizes for correct guesses!

we did a cake, brunch/lunch

My friends did a gender reveal party. A neighbor made chocolate cupcakes filled with colored icing. They were topped with both pink and blue icing but the interior was the color of the baby's team.
One of the really fun things they did was have everyone come dressed in either red/pink or blue to represent their guess for what the baby's gender would be. That way no one could change their guess once they were there!
They also played a few games relating to old wives tales to see if they were right as far as what the baby's gender is. Plus they served all the foods she'd been craving through her pregnancy there!

We did the cake, just immediate family. We took the sealed envelope to the bakery and explained if boy - canoli filling, if girl strawberry filling
I love the balloon idea - going to do that next time

i think these are sooo cute. if we were finding out right on time for mother's day or father's day, i probably would have done one for immediate family with a brunch or dinner. but our appointment is on a monday - 2 days before we leave for vaca... no way i can hold out! so, we're just going the old fashioned route and finding out at the sono. my mom is coming with us. unfortunately she's the only one i don't think will have 'something' offhand to say to ruin the moment. i could just hear my sister now... if it's a boy - "oooh. oh well".

We did one and it was so much fun! We had close family and friends. We did a buffet of a hero and some salads with dips ~ munchy foods. We had our sono tech write in a piece of paper and we brought the envelope to our baker. I also asked everyone to dress in pink or blue which team they were on. Before we cut the cake I took pictures of each team ~ it was fun! Team blue was bigger than team pink but we are team  . It was such a fun get together!

We are not doing a party or anything, but we find out Monday and our plan is to have the tech write down boy or girl and put it in an envelope. Then we are going to have DS open and read it, and will send video to family and friends. It's our way of trying to include DS since my docs office does not let kids in the u/s. we did not find out for our first 2 kids so we are excited to find out this time!
