Pregnancy / Clotting Disorder

I'm a patient of Dr. Waterstones at Cornell Weil (Manhattan). B/c I have a clotting disorder and just got my BFP today - would they see me for my first appointment sooner than normal?

I'm taking a daily baby aspirin, as both my Hematologist and GYN stated there was no reason to go on heprin at this time.

i followed the normal protocol but had started Lovenox from the time I got the BFP. At 35 weeks I changed to Heparin.

hmmm, when I spoke with my doc about it yesterday, they said they wanted a beta first to establish pregnancy and then we would go from there.

they told me they wouldnt start lovenox until a viable pregnancy is seen on U/S.

I didn't start it until 9 weeks with my last pregnancy so I am not panicking but that is interesting.

Re: Pregnancy / Clotting Disorder

With dd and ds I started at 8 weeks when I had a viability scan at the MFS, With this one I started at my first apt with my OB which was 6w. I had had another m/c a couple months before this pregnancy so that may be why he started me earlier this time.

My hematologist wouldn't start me on the lovenox until they saw that it was a viable pregnancy and not eptopic. I started as soon as they saw the sac - so 5w5 days or something like that.

He just stressed that I needed to start it prior to 8 weeks -- I had two previous losses that happened around 8.5 weeks.

That's what my hematologist stated when I met with him in April before we tried to conceive. Thanks so much for your response!

Re: Pregnancy / Clotting Disorder

no problem! He said that if he started me on the lovenox and the pregnancy was eptopic I would be doing more harm and would be at high risk of bleeding.

I LOVE my dr

FOr what its worth I will be 15 weeks on Saturday (after 2 losses - but that was before I was on Lovenox and baby asprin)

Re: Pregnancy / Clotting Disorder

I called my High Risk Dr immediately after i got my BFP. They immediately sent me for bloodowork and called in a precription for Lovenox that i started taking the next day. I had my 1st appt at around 5W3D, but that's probably because i am seeing a HR and my reg OB.
