Placenta Previa

Hey Ladies,

Has anyone had placenta previa?

I am 14 weeks. I have had 2 episodes of bleeding. I went to the dr to get checked and make sure the baby was ok. Dr said that the placenta can move up as I go further along in the pregnancy.

This is my 2nd pregnancy and have not experienced any of this. My 1st pregnancy was very smooth.

I am just really nervous and hope all is well.

Re: Placenta Previa

i have it (well, hopefully "had" it, but we'll see).

as you said, if it's found earlier in pregnancy, as the uterus grows, the placenta will also "travel" up with it and be ok.

my doctor said that ultimately, it does not harm the baby in any way. if the placenta is very low and doesn't "move" up as the pregnancy progresses, it may force you to have a c-section rather than vaginal birth.

when i was bleeding, i went to the hospital and they told me i was fine. At my next dr appointment, she actually suggested that i go on pelvic rest (pretty much means no sex but also need to limit heavy lifting, if possible). She also said i shouldn't do any kind of workout other than walking. not sure if it's really necessary for me to be on pelvic rest but i'd rather be safe than sorry Chat Icon

I had bleeding from it around 7.5 weeks. that's when they diagnosed it. As of 12 weeks the uterus had stretched enough that the baby had moved up and off my cervix. Most times it moves up.

I had it on and off in teh beginning of my pregnancy. One month I would have it, the next month it would be lifted then I'd be back to having it again the next time. It was finally gone for good around 24 weeks. My dr. said at that point it wouldn't go back any lower. I also had some bleeding around 18 weeks or so.

I had it with my second pregnancy also. Dr put me on modified bed rest & no lifting. They checked me at my level II and it had moved.

Thank you ladies!! This makes me feel so much better. I was so upset yesterday.
I go for my sonogram in 2 weeks to see where the placenta is.
Thank you again!Chat Icon Chat Icon
