Re: Registering
I started my registry a couple weeks ago... After 2 1/2 hours of walking around I began having a little melt down. I left and finished the stuff online the following week. I found registering completely overwhelming a huge reality check. Registering for the bridal shower was much more fun.

i have to say, it was a lot easier going with someone who knew what to get. i went w/ my sister who has two DD's so she made it a lot easier for me! I think i spent a couple of hours in the store. good luck!

Re: Registering
Oh no I have no patience for that , we went yesterday to BRU, I registered in store only bc I wanted to get a godie bag and BTW what a waste of time that was, they gave us few useless coupons and that was it, I expected a lot more. then I put a stroller , an video monitor and a diaper bag on a registry and told them I'll do the rest online, took us about 30 min with everything , lol. i'm so bad, I just don't have it in me to walk around and scan every single item. Plus we don't really need too many big things, mostly clothes and stuff, which I can get online.

Re: Registering
Registering is overwhelming... But its even more overwhelming going into it blind and not doing any previous research...
Here are my words of advice for registering:
1. Research! BUY the BABY BARGAINS book before stepping foot in any baby store! Then also do some online research such as reviewing Amazon reviews of products. There are much better reviews and a lot more reviews than ion the BBB or BRU sites. This way you can get a much better idea of how a lot of real life parents feel about products.
2. Focus on your major items first and do them 1 at a time. I did 1 major item every few days or 1 a week. I would focus all my attention and research on it. Decide on the item or make my top 2-3 list then move on to the next item.
3. When you go to the store bring your lists and go there knowing what you want to look at. Again save going to the store for major items or on a specific mission (LOL). Like today is strollers and bedding OR focus your visit on everything feeding related... Otherwise you will walk around the store so overwhelmed you will want to cry... Seriously... And make it more than 1 trip... It will be easier on you...
DEF dont try to do it all in 1 day or 1 trip... And do as much as you can online. I did most of my registry online and saved my trips to the store for major items that I was indecisive about.

Re: Registering
i found registering MUCH easier to do online. I did a ton of research based on Baby Bargains book as well as product reviews i found online and then added one or two of each item i wanted.
Then i went into the store and looked at the big things (stroller, carrier, car seat, pack n play, etc) in person and added/removed things as needed.
Not to say that it wasn't overwhelming. It's hard to register for things when you have no idea what you'll need. Just register for everything though. After baby is born, you can return what you don't want/need
good luck!

Re: Registering
the first day was long but it gets easier once you start figuring out what you really need and can do it online

Re: Registering
I'm dreading this! I still remember how exhausting bridal shower registering was and I wasn't pregnant then. Now I can't walk around Target for more than a half hour without needing to rest.

THIS!! I was so thankful to go with my SIL cause DH and I would've been lost otherwise. Even though we went with her, I still had a mini panic attack after about 2 hours. SO overwhelming.

When is a good time to register? How many weeks were you when you registered?

Re: Registering
Just take your time and have fun with it... :) I started around 19-20 weeks - first I printed a registry checklist so this gave me a great guideline. Then I researched practically every item and once I was torn between a couple (like two different high chairs), I asked for my SIL's advice, who has two daughters and also has very similar tastes to mine. Just remember you have a while to be done with it (you're around 18 weeks, right?) so that should make it easier for you.
ETA: I did almost all of it online so I could research each product I was working on. When I got to bottles, I researched the best bottles... etc. If I had gone to the store blindly with DH it never would have worked out.
