Bottles ETA one more question ...

Anybody have any thoughts on drop ins vs regular bottles?

ETA: So if I get the drop ins, I dont need a bottle sterilizer? The woman at BBB said to get it anyway to sterilize the bottle and the nipples. She said because the dishwasher takes too long and the sterilizer takes 6 minutes.

Re: Bottles

My family likes to use the drop ins since its super easy and convenient. I guess the only down side is you always have to buy the liners for the drop ins, but you dont have to worry about sterilizing the bottles.

Re: Bottles

LOVE the drop ins - so easy and convenient, especially if you are going to be out for the day - you only need extra nipples and liners, not whole extra bottles.

I have also never personally spent an evening cleaning bottles - I know many friends who used Dr. Browns who did!

Re: Bottles

I agree love drop ins. I used them in the beginning with dd. really easy to clean!!! Easy to heat up. You couldn't pay me to clean the dr browns bottles. I've watched many kids on those bottles and they are a pain!

Re: Bottles

Used drop-ins for DS and loved them. Well it was the 3rd bottle we tired and he loved them and they also help with his belly issues.

We are going to try drop ins when DD arrives.

I used born free for DD and had no issues whatsoever.

My sister started using drop ins for her DD and she HATED them...you have to get all the air out and it's hard to tell how many oz they have drank b/c the bag is all squeezed up. I never tried b/c I know I would not be a fan.

Re: Bottles

everyone (and their DC's) has their own preferences

me personally, i hated the drop in's - DS just couldn't suck right from them and i found it hard to judge how much was left in there.

We used Dr Browns and for us, they were the ones DS had the easiest time with, and helped alleviate gassiness better than the others

Re: Bottles

I started on Born Free but DS was gassy so I tried changing everything including bottles. Drop-Ins worked amazing. Now that he's not so gassy anymore I go back and forth between the two bottles. When we go out I pack the drop-ins for the convenience of the clean up.

Re: Bottles

We started with the drop-ins and the playtex ventaires (both wide-neck bottles -- they use the same nipples interchangeably) but around 10 weeks DD just flipped out and would no longer accept them. I tried the Dr. Brown's bottles and she loved them so we switched and never looked back. She's almost fully weaned now at 16 m (down to one bottle a day, FINALLY), but we still use the Dr. Brown's. I either throw them in the dish washer or just wash them. I never found it to be that big a deal.

I exclusively BF, but do give bottles of pumped breast milk here and there, and I love the ease of the drop ins!

i used Dr. Browns with DD and had zero issues. I agree with the above on the drop ins. I did not like them at all.

Re: Bottles

I'm going to use the drop-ins if I have to pump.

Once we move to formula I was going to try the Similac bottle cause I had a coupon and bought some already, lol.

I also HATE Dr. Brown bottle. Such a PITA to wash!!!
