Opening Cards/Checks At Shower
What do you do if you open a gift at your shower and there is a check? I mean with the gifts, you announce what it is... hold it up... ohh and ahh... make a comment about it and thank them. For a check, you are not going to hold it up and announce "it's a check" right? So... do you just basically ignore the check at that moment- like read the card silently to yourself and then say thank you to that person? The whole thing seems awkward to me and I am nervous about it.

I don't think I've ever been to a shower where people gaves checks so I wouldn't even worry about this

I was wondering aboyt this too because I know people who have given gift cards, checks or cash as presents...
From what ive seen and what i plan to do is not announce the amount but just state its a gift card yay and say thank you... Or make a joke like woohoo its cash thank you... Something cute like that...

I got a handful of checks and cash in cards. I just said that it was a monetary gift and said thank you.

I opened the card with the check read it and said "so and so thank you for the check, it will defintely come in handy" and move on to the next gift. I did not disclose the amount.
