Re: Does anyone know anything about
honestly - i have a diaper genie and it REALLY depends on how you use it. for example, I roll up the diapers tightly and seal them with the tabs before I put them in there. I don't throw loose wipes in there either - I wrap them inside the diaper.
however, my MIL, who watches DD in our house a few days a week, will throw the poopy diapers in there without even folding them up, so poo gets smeared on the inside of the diaper genie bag, and she just tosses the wipes in there too. this, i learned, creates a nasty, NASTY condensation-poo puddle at the bottom of the diaper genie bag, that smells so terrible it has brought me to near-vomiting. (despite telling her several times, and putting up a sign, she still does it).
I do NOT have this problem when she is not at the house. Diaper genie functions perfectly and does what it's supposed to, without any smell. I think it's pretty common sense not to throw the diapers in there open like that. How could it NOT smell.
This is just based on my own experience...

Okay great thank you! My sisters review of it was that hers was getting so nasty after a while and it always smelled. I wonder if she throws them in there like your MIL. EW.

Re: Does anyone know anything about
IMHO I think specialty diaper pails are a waste of money. I always had a regular pail for DD with a box of zip lock bags on hand for particularly stinky diapers. Every night I would take the whole bag out to the garbage pail, spray with lysol and replace the bag.
I plan on doing the same thing for this baby.

Re: Does anyone know anything about
I LOVED our diaper champ. It didn't start to smell at all for 15 months. Pretty awesome life span if you ask me! Plus it didn't take any special bags!
I have the arm & hammer diaper pail now and it's just eh. I'll probably get another diaper champ for #2.
I do the same thing with wrapping the diapers up tight and sometimes even put them in scented bags into the diaper pail. Once they start solids it's tougher (sometimes I dump poops in the toilet first). But 15 months is a pretty good life for a diaper pail!

Re: Does anyone know anything about
My SIL loves the the Diaper Dekor and suggested it to me so I registered for it. She is really into baby gear and getting the best for her babies, etc. and she loved this one. However, she also knows of people who have the Ubbi and love it, too. But for that type of item I decided to go for the $30 item instead of the $80 one since my SIL did recommend it.

Re: Does anyone know anything about
We have the arm & hammer diaper pail. I don't have any complaints about it but I don't really see it as a necessity either. The bags for these pails are always $$$ and it just doesn't end up being worth it. A regular pail works better, especially in the first few weeks when you are changing diapers left and right!
