would you travel 4 hrs at 29 weeks?
just wanted everyones opinions. my in law are having a retirement party. by that time ill be 29 weeks and they live about a 4 hr car ride away. i have to say, i hate long car rides and my mother in law and i are not best friends. in fact we got into a huge argument about the party while it was being planned because we already had plans for the weekend that she wanted to do it, with my parents. im already feeling huge and uncomfortable and am not thrilled to take a trip with my preggo self and 2 year old. should i just suck it up and go? or have the hubby go alone? thanks!!

Is it 4 hours there and back in the same day or are you staying with them and is that bothering you too?

Re: would you travel 4 hrs at 29 weeks?
im not sure if we would stay with them. i think id rather drive home the same day so i can sleep in my own bed. i should add that the plans that my mother in law wanted us to change involved my parents and a trip to an amusement park that was already paid for.

I would be really annoyed if they planned this after they knew what you wanted to do. Honestly, I would leave it up to your DH to decide, since this party will only happen once and you could try to go to do the amusement park any time. If he was okay with skipping it then I would.

Re: would you travel 4 hrs at 29 weeks?
just to clarify, they did end up changing date, but only after words were exchanged.
my mil didnt understand (and probobly still doesnt) that the date that we were going to sesame was the only time that we could go, due to my pregnancy, and my parents took time out of their schedule to come and help us. it was also our last "special" thing to do with my daughter before she becomes a big sister. i guess im still sore about the whole situation and dont really want to go.

Re: would you travel 4 hrs at 29 weeks?
Ohhh, if they changed the date for you I would feel bad not going, but that's me. I'm 28.5 weeks and taking a 3 hour trip to PA next weekend so that part wouldn't bother me, but I understand you not wanting to go anyway. I guess see how you feel as it gets closer.

Re: would you travel 4 hrs at 29 weeks?
I would have since I was still feeling good. Seems like the mil is the bigger prob here. If it's that bad and hubby doesn't mind, make up an excuse and don't go. Life is too short to waste time doing things you don't want to be doing

I did for my baby shower (about 5 hours both ways @ 32 weeks or so) didn't have any issues, it just depends how you feel.

Re: would you travel 4 hrs at 29 weeks?
I just came back from Disney at 29 weeks, and will be going to a wedding in 3 weeks which is 7 hours upstate (driving) and will be 35 weeks, and probably head to Canada for a night. Im feeling good, so it all depends on how you feel! Hope all works out!

Re: would you travel 4 hrs at 29 weeks?
I would go - if you don't it is just going to be more awkward when LO arrives.
Also, if you feel well enough to sit in the car for a few hours to drive each way and then spend the whole day walking around an amusement park, the car ride to your in laws shouldn't be a problem.
I'm guessing the car ride isn't really your issue though

If you are feeling OK, you might want to go, because they moved the date to accommodate you... but if you are not feeling up to it, send hubby by himself.

Re: would you travel 4 hrs at 29 weeks?
I'd go, but is there a way you can stay over in a hotel that night? 4 hours is a LOT of time in a car, and 8 hours round trip in a day would be brutal.

I'd go, but I'd stay overnight. I wouldn't want to spend 8 hours in the car in one day.

This is what I would do. (I would go since they changed the date) Good Luck in your decision!

Definitely. I traveled 4 hrs at 36 weeks though, lol. I traveled throughout both pregnancies, never bothered me.

I'd go too. If it is your MIL that is bothering you, I would keep a big smile on my face but limit my interaction w/her for the day.

im surprised to hear of some people traveling so late in their pregnancy. my ob told me to stop traveling 6 weeks before my due date. (it was on my "donts" list..lol)

I guess I could see that, but most people work until they're much closer to their EDD. And once the baby's here, you're not going to want to do that kind of trip for quite some time...
