Blood test after BFP?
I'm just curious ...did you have to go to your OB/GYN immediately after your BFP for a blood test to confirm the pregnancy or did your doctor just schedule you for a 7-8 week appointment? ?
Just had two positive EPt. One yesterday one today. Dr office isn't open until tomorrow so I'm just curious what to expect.

Update:
So i called my Dr. this morning-They don't do the blood test early either. They scheduled me for an appointment when I'm 8 weeks on May 30th. UGH this is going to be the longest 23 days!
So for now just take my vitamins; avoid the foods I've seen posted on here; and pray for no morning sickness. Am I missing anything else? Thanks!

When I called my Dr. to schedule my first prenatal appointment and ask about the blood test, they said they don't do the blood tests. They said that the at home pregnancy tests are very reliable.
So they just scheduled me for my 8 week appointment.

DH thinks I'll have to go for a blood test but I was telling him I thought I read on here before a lot of doctors just schedule the 1st appt after 7 weeks.

I think with prior losses or at your request they'll do bloodwork, otherwise they'll just schedule your first visit around 8 weeks.

No blood work for me. First appt is this tuesday at 8w2d. Its definitely been tough to wait, so if you feel uncomfortable, im sure you could go in for a blood test Congrats on the BFP!!

If you're not spotting or cramping, you're in the clear. Everything will be confirmed at your 7-8 week first prenatal exam.

I only did bloodwork with my RE. I didn't start seeing my OBGYN until 9 weeks.

I think 1/12/13 that's what Baby Center says based on my LMP! It still seems so surreal!
ETA: its so early! Is there even a december /january mommy to be thread Lol!

And yes, mine actually had me come in for both a beta blood test and a sono (could see the little gestational sac).

Congratulations!! You're due just a few days after my DD's 2nd birthday.  I LOOOOOVED having a January baby! Any time you're sweating and hot while pregnant, you just step outside!
I only went in for bloodwork because I had long, irregular cycles and had no idea how far along I was. So the bloodwork was to help date me (it's not very precise, though). I didn't actually go see my OB until 8 weeks for both pregnancies.

No blood test for me, they gave me a pee test in the office to confirm with them as well. pretty much the same as the at home one

I'm excited about a January baby. DH's bday is 1/2; my sister is 1/13. this baby is due approx 1/12. We have 4 other January birthday's. Just hope there's no snow storm when I'm trying to get to the hospital!

My endocrinologist made me do a blood test after BFP it was because i'm on thyroid medication.
