Re: laying on your belly
I asked today (I'm 16 w 4 d) and was told I can keep sleeping on my stomach until it gets uncomfortable. He said probably around 20 weeks. Last time I did until 24 weeks. He said if I pile enough pillows and find a way to make it comfortable I can keep doing it though.
So I'm guessing it's not hurting anything! Just a guess. I can't sleep well unless I'm on my stomach.

Re: laying on your belly
From what i understood, the first trimester you could still lay however you want. once you get into the second tri you should be laying on your sides (preferably left) I still find myself laying on my back, and i'm 21 weeks. I sometimes freak out, but it doesn't bother me yet, so i feel it's fine. I def layed on my belly during my first tri though! Try using some pillows under you, so you are propped up a little and not flat on your stomach. almost like a wedge (does that make sense) It works for me, and I still do this sometimes.

Re: laying on your belly
i just looked it up yesterday and every answer said that its fine and your body will turn naturally if its not good. another thing i kept reading that doctors would say is, it will be uncomfortable before its dangerous.
i have to sleep on my stomach and i freaked out too but then just did it cuz i couldnt sleep. i also bend one leg (always did that) so its a little less pressure directly on my stomach

Re: laying on your belly
I don't remember exactly when I stopped during my first pregnancy. But I didn't make a conscious effort to. Eventually it just becomes uncomfortable, so its your bodies way of saying "No more!"

Re: laying on your belly
I was worried about this too. First Tri, sleep however your comfortable. After that, you're body will tell you when you should be changing sides.

Re: laying on your belly
With my first DS I could not sleep on my belly. It was so uncomfortable- with this pregnancy I have been sleeping on my belly but will probably start switching to the side soon.

Re: laying on your belly
I did it for a pretty long time...probably up until 17-19 weeks, basically until I had a little bump and it was uncomfortable. So far all is well, but I sure miss sleeping that way!

I'm 32 weeks and still sleep on my belly. I figure my body will tell me if it's "wrong".

i pretty much did this. once it wasnt comfy i started laying on my side. mostly left. i do lay on my back a little but im sure that will change once i get bigger. i dont want any added pressure on my spine

Re: laying on your belly
I've noticed I'm not comfortable on my belly anymore. If i do I have to be turned a little it to alleviate pressure.

Re: laying on your belly
I'm a stomach sleeper and I slept on my stomach until about 15 weeks. It got uncomfortable at that point and now I sleep on my side. DH always got nervous and I would tell him "its ok, it isn't going to pop" lol

Re: laying on your belly
I am def. a stomach sleeper. I would try to sleep on my side but ended up on my belly. Honestly, I didnt pay much attention to the do's and dont's on how to sleep during pregnancy. I let my body decide which way I wanted to sleep and DS was born perfectly healthy.
