Re: Not so good 20 week appt (SUA related)
When I was pregnant with my 3rd DD I found out at my 20 week sono that she had SUA along with an echogenic bowel. I was so upset. My doctor spoke about an amnio but did not suggest having it done. I have a history of miscarriage (3 before I had my first DD) so he didn't want to take any chances and he said my numbers from my 12 and 16 week scan for Downs and Trisomy 18 were good. He sent me for a fetal echocardiogram and everything was perfect with her heart.
I also researched on the internet and it was the worst thing I could have done. Don't drive yourself crazy with the computer.
For the rest of my pregnancy i was monitored closely and had a sono every 2 weeks. Eventually the echogenic bowel cleared up around 34 weeks and DD was born beautiful and healthy.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy
ETA: They say usually with SUA the baby will be born smaller but that was not the case with me. DD weighed 8lbs 1oz. She was the biggest of all 3 of my DD's

Re: UPDATE Not so good 20 week appt (SUA related)
Thank you everyone for your well wishes, prayers, hugs, and experiences. I went for my level II today and everything looks perfect. As soon as I went in my tech said its not "common" but its not "uncommon." And that all my bloodwork and everything looks great, so theres no reason to worry. That really put me at ease for the rest of the ultrasound. We spoke with a genetic counselor who also stated the same. And reinforced that the odds are really in my favor as we have no other markers. I scheduled my fetal echocardiogram next week. While today was a relief at some moments I still have that impending doom feeling I just can't shake. As others have stated before, its human nature to freak when all is not normal. And since I had such an easy breezy pregnancy with DS this has really put me through a loop. I am going to be monitored, so that puts me at ease... but until my little girl is healthy and in my arms I have made the choice to ride the rollercoaster, and not have an amnio. If the echocardiogram reveals more issues, I may reconsider. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted

Re: Not so good 20 week appt (SUA related)
My sisters third child only had one ventricle in cord. She had to go for weekly Sonos to keep eye on fluid and development. He's now a healthy, smart, jock, joker of a soon to be 6 yr old boy. She had gotten the amino bc she was over 35 at time of pregnancy. Good luck!

Re: Not so good 20 week appt (SUA related)
I had this with my 1st pregnancy and my DD came out perfectly healthy. For me, it just meant more sono's and a closer watch on me and my DD. I was induced at 38.5 weeks due to this and other issues, but delivered a healthy baby. Feel free to FM me if you have any questions.

Thanks everyone so much for responding.
I have a question for the girls who has SUA? Did you do the amnio? I feel theres no need to, but I'm also having maybe I should moments.
