NPR: has anyone been to Cape Cod?
We are traveling there in a month (the weekend after Memorial Day) and looking for suggestions. We will be staying in Dennis Port, which seems to be the southern end of the Cape.
As far as whale watch tours, would you recommend we take the hour drive up to Provincetown and check out the Dolphin Fleet tour? Or try the one in Hyannis since it's a lot closer to Dennis Port (Barnstable tour). I have absolutely no clue, but I know Provincetown would make for a nice day trip from what I've read.
Any suggestions on restaurants, activities etc. are appreciated, we will be there from a Thursday to Monday.
Thanks!

Love cape cod! We stay in Hyannis. We took the Hyannis whale watching tour 2 yrs ago and what we saw was simply amazing. We couldn't turn our heads fast enough. They were all around us!
We did a day trip to provincetown last yr. Walked up to the top of the lighthouse. Walked across the jetty.
As for other activities, def try to go to the drive in movie theater, take the ferry out to Martha's vineyard (not the Hyannis one. That one is pricey. Drive to the other one), unlimited mini golf places, cape cod chip factory, the brewery (although I guess not the best place for a pregnant lady to hang out at )

Yes, i used to spend my summers on the Cape many years ago when i lived in Boston
Chatham is beautiful.. such a quaint town and so pretty. It's not far from Dennis
For more touristy stuff, check out Provincetown, its fun, colorful and good for a day trip.
i miss it..

Thank you both!! Very helpful tips! I had also read that the whale watching tour out of Hyannis has a bigger boat, so less of a chance of getting sea sick or having a rocky ride compared to the Provincetown tour. I'll let you know if I have any other questions as I research, thanks again!

Crashing....
I go up there every summer since my family lives there. I would for sure say take the whale watching tour from Provincetown. Since it is on the tip of the cape you go further out and get to see more whales. The one from Hyannis you are traveling for longer on the boat because you have to get out of the harbor first and then out to the ocean.
You have to do main st Hyannis...there is a really nice candy and ice cream shop there.
There is an awesome restaurant called the wellfleet beachcomber which is on a cliff and has an AMAZING view! This is near provincetown.
Also try the cape cod chip factory. All these years I haven't made it there yet..but heard its awesome.

I live on the Cape! The Hyannis whalewatch is good & there is a restaurant right next door called called Matakeese Wharf, which is excellent! http://www.mattakeese.com/
I also like the Cape Cod Canal cruise out of Onset, i took my family on it when they first came to visit. http://www.hy-linecruises.com/cape-cod-canal-cruises-schedule-and-rates.html
Pirates Cove has a great mini golf course http://www.piratescove.net/
Provincetown is great for sightseeing and shopping
i also love Mashpee Commons for shopping http://www.mashpeecommons.com/
there is also a Drive In movie theater in Well Fleet - i havent got there yet, hopefully this summer though! http://www.wellfleetcinemas.com/
Feel free to contact me, i live in Bourne and work in Hyannis

Re: NPR: has anyone been to Cape Cod?
Nancy and Mrs. G, thank you SO MUCH!!!! That is super helpful info!! I will be sure to let you know if I have other questions! I started researching restaurants and got so excited I found a place that has crab cakes eggs benedict (ever since having it in Hawaii on our honeymoon it's an obsession of mine lol)....this place called the Red Cottage Restaurant, but then....I realized I can't HAVE eggs benedict b/c it's not fully cooked oh well!! At least I can enjoy so many other yummy seafood dishes while I'm there, I will have a hard time limiting my fish intake but I will try!! lol
