REally stupid question...appointment related
This is going to sound so stupid but I guess I never really thought about it until I started reading that you don't have a sono every appointment at the obgyn. So, if it's not a sono, what kind of exam is it? Is it like what you would experience at a pap (minus the actually pap).
Thanks!

Re: REally stupid question...appointment related
For the regular monthly visits, the nurse takes me back, collects my morning urine sample, weighs me, asks me about any problems, concerns, etc. And then the doctor comes in, measures my belly, we listen to the HB and he tells me when to return or if I have something coming up, like testing or my 20 week ultrasound.
At weeks 12 I had blood drawn, and then an NT scan. At weeks 16 I had blood drawn, I am about to have my 20 weeks u/s, and I think around week 28 I'll have my glucose test.
Once I get to the third trimester I believe I go every 2 weeks, and in the final month, once a week.

Re: REally stupid question...appointment related
yep, the appointments are pretty useless, IMO:
-- pee in a cup -- get weighed -- get blood pressure taken -- hear baby's heartbeat for about 5 seconds
i don't get naked at all (just pull pants down a bit for the doppler)

Yup, same here. The weeks I have to do the fun ultrasounds (12 and 20) at the hospital I have to go to 2 separate appt's in the same week.

This, plus Q&A with the doc. I always bring a list.

yup, same here. I feel like it's almost unnecessary, but I love at least getting to hear the heartbeat

Re: REally stupid question...appointment related
Pee in a cup weight blood pressure
then dr comes in asks if ive had any issues. Do i have any questions/concerns. And then tells me about upcoming tests or things to expect that are common pregnancy symptoms.
The difference with my dr is she does sonos at every visit and a doppler. The sono is on the small machine in the office its not like a major sono and she does it for like 1 min. She looks at heart and fluid and where the baby is positioned.
