Waiting 6 months..
Hi Ladies! Wow, Time Flies! I cant believe my little girl is over 3 months already. I have been thinkg about when we should start to "not be safe". I'm not saying that DH and I are going to start trying again tomorrow for another baby but I was wondering if anyone didnt wait the 6 months to a year like the OB recommends. It took us a few years to get pregnant the first time and I feel like I dont want to wait. If something is meant to be, it will be. I just feel like if it happens it happens. I really dont want to go back on BC. Suggestions? Experiences?
ETA I had a section.

Re: Waiting 6 months..
It depends.. I had a csection so I was advised to wait 18 months before getting pregnant again.
my cousin who didn't have a csection get pregnant 3 months after giving birth.

Re: Waiting 6 months..
i am not sure what the "right" thing is to do, but my sister had my two nieces 14 months apart and had c-sections with both.. so far everything seems ok... but just double check w/ your doc.

Re: Waiting 6 months..
I had a c section and my Dr gave me no timeline. DH and I do not have a timeline but know that if we want #2 it won't be far off since I am going to be 39 this week.

Re: Waiting 6 months..
If we were having 1 we wouldn't be so careful. We would wait like 6-8 months and "see what happens". SO many people have issues with the first then end up getting pregnant as a surprise with #2.
But seeing that we are having 2 and might not even want # 3, we are being uper careful.

Re: Waiting 6 months..
I waited the recommended 12 months after my c-section and regret it. I had unexplained infertility issues for #2 and ended up having to get treatment. The RE told me that regular dr's recommendation is not always the right option for everyone. 2 years later, I am 2 months pregnant with #2. So I think it's really an individual decision not always the recommended.

Re: Waiting 6 months..
I would check with your Dr. Every person is different and Drs have different recommendations.
The recommendations are not only regarding your safety, but your childs health. There is a higher risk for children to have developmental delays and Autism when they are from pregnancies that are very soon after giving birth.
Just something to look into.

I have never heard of this correlation. Do you have any links that support this?

Re: Waiting 6 months..
My OB told me that if it was under 1 year between pregnancies, I'd just have to be monitored a lot more closely for preterm labor since it sometimes happens when you've just delivered recently.
I got pg with #2 exactly 2 weeks after #1 turned 1. It was not on purpose but a wonderful blessing and we are very excited.
The best thing to do is to talk to your doctor about it and discuss any potential risks and what they suggest. Apparently many people are much more fertile after they've already had one, so just because it took so long to get pg the first time doesn't mean it will again. My friend got pg at 7 m PP while BF... it took her 4 years to conceive her first -- boy was she surprised!
