How many sonos are typical?
I know each pregnancy is different but what are the typical ones? I had at 8 weeks, my NT and then level 2. I have a growth sono scheduled but what's after that?

Re: How many sonos are typical?
I don't even get a growth sono!
At my practice, a "normal" healthy pregnancy gets 3 sonos -- 8, 12, and 20 weeks.
With DD, I had 5 sonos -- 8, 12, 19, 20, 28. The 20-week was because they found a spot on her heart at 19 w and I had to go to a perinatologist (she's totally fine and healthy). The 28 w was because I had partial placenta previa at 19 w and they wanted to make sure it cleared.
This time, I had 7.5, 8.5, 12 and have another at 20 w. I don't think I get any more after that. I can't imagine going the entire second half of the pregnancy without one, though, so I might ask for an extra.
My office doesn't do growth sonos.

Re: How many sonos are typical?
It also depends on what your insurance will cover... I have united HC and was told by my doc that they allow a million sonos so being in my 3rd tri, Ive been able to get them each visit!
For me, I had one at my inital (like at 7 weeks), Then at least another 2 times until the 20 week... Then I had practically none for my 2nd tri... That was a rough time LOL... And now like I said, Ive been getting one every week in 3rd...

We plan to do the 3D/4D so at least we will have another before is born. I can't believe that there is nothing after 20 weeks

What you named and a growth at 32w...you have no sons after 20w? That wouldn't sit well with me..

Re: How many sonos are typical?
I had a ton at the beginning b/c I did IVF and was with a RE. Since then though, I had a 12 week, 16 week (that was optional, but I was so anxious, so I wanted it), 20 week, 27 week (to look at something that was seen on my 20 week), and I will next be going for a 34 week growth sono. My doctor hasn't mentioned anything beyond that.

I havent had any after my 20 week either but dont get down about it. Have you ever researched sonos? They really are not the best thing, or at least we are not sure they are. I told my doctor I wanted to limit them as much as possible. There is research showing they could be linked to autism. I know plenty of people will say that they had all kinds of sonos and their child is fine but I am not taking any chances. I have a severely autistic brother so anything I can do to limit the chances of my LO being autistic is what I am doing- even if the research is not proven, why risk it. Not trying to preach, JMO

Re: How many sonos are typical?
8 weeks 12 weeks 20 weeks
I convinced my Dr. to order me a growth sono at 37-38 weeks.
I also had one at 5.5 due to cramping at one at 35 bc they thought my fluid might be low.

Re: How many sonos are typical?
My practice did one at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 20. If I had gone over my EDD I might've had one more. Growth sonos aren't very reliable (there's a 1-2lb margin for error) so many practices avoid doing them.

Completely agree with this. 3D sonos emit much stronger sound waves, definitely not preaching or anything either but something for everyone to research on their own.

I only have a growth sono scheduled bc my LMP and size of the baby are off (but my cycles are long and I O'd later in the cycle) so just to make sure everything is progressing as it should.

Re: How many sonos are typical?
When I had DD I had one at 10w (when I found out I was pregnant.)
Level II at 20w (there was no NT scan when I was pregnant last time)
I had one when I was 3 days late b/c DD didn't drop (she was frank breech)
This time I had one at 8w, and will have the nt at 12w and level II at 20w.
My Dr. is going to be doing more toward the end to make sure we don't wind up with another breech baby

My doctor does a quick sono at every visit. I had the 12 week and 20 week with a sono tech though.

Re: How many sonos are typical?
8wks 12wks 20wks
I had a sono each month after 30wks simply because I have gestational diabetes otherwise it would have only been 3 sonos.

Re: How many sonos are typical?
I feel like I have had a million!!!
It's been pretty much every time I go to the doctor, then I had one at 12w, one at 17w, I'll have one at 21w, and a fetal echocardiogram at 25w and then two growth sonos per the peri. I had a pregnancy in which the baby had a number of problems, so they are keeping a closer eye on me I guess.

Re: How many sonos are typical?
At my practice a Normal healthy Pregnancy gets one at 12 weeks and then at 20 weeks.
I got one at 7 weeks, will have 12, 20 and then from 30 weeks- 36 every other week and then 37-on every week due to my specific issues.
