Re: Master Hospital Bag Checklist
I also used flip flops for the shower, lysol for the bathroom (especially if it is a shared bathroom!) and my own towels to shower with - bigger and better than the tiny sandpaper ones they give you.
I also used body spray since I had a section and couldn't get out of bed right away - helped to freshen up a little bit!

Re: Master Hospital Bag Checklist
Our hospital had its own birthing balls so I didn't have to bring that. Can you find out if yours does? That's kinda a pain to carry...
Are you really going to write TYs from the hospital? That's super ambitious!!
We had to bring a separate towel for DH and if I wanted a towel that actually wrapped around me, I had to use my own as well.
I agree with flip flops for the shower.
I only brought a going home outfit for DD and nothing else. They gave me a few diapers... really only like 3 or 4, but I took them! You shouldn't need your diaper bag and diapers at all while you're there. Save it for when you get home.
As far as other things to remember for the hospital... you might want to make a list of "things to take from the hospital if offered" -- I would include:
-disposable underwear -tucks pads / dermasol -sitz bath -nasal aspirator for baby -extra blue chucks if they'll let you -extra "break and cool" ice packs
I highly recommend having really good maxi pads with wings at home. The always max extra long overnight (purple) are great. After a few weeks when the bleeding lightens a bit, the always infinity with wings (orange) are great.

Re: Master Hospital Bag Checklist
There are a lot of things on the list that I wouldn't bother. The hospitals give you everything you need for the baby so you only need the outfit the day you are going home.
Cooler? Good Sam had a small kitchen with drinks and ices and snacks for free.
Also we had Internet and great cell service so no need for vending machine change/phone change
As for mom stuff. The birthing stuff all depends on how you think you want to labor. But know it will probably all go out the window once it really starts.
I only brought clothes for myself and it was comfy pants a tank and hoodie. My hospital was so hot and it was Dec so dress in layers. I found most of the things on hospital bag lists I would have never used. Also your DH can bring you something if you really need it.
Oh and I had no time to read. The baby is always with you and you tend to have visitors all the time so I didn't have any down time except for the few hours I got sleep

The words "portable phone" makes me
Was this checklist generated in 1996?
Very comprehensive. I think you have some items there that you won't be needing.

That looks a lot more like what I brought. Although a big towel is good because the ones they have are really small. And I needed snacks because my hospital left me starving all the time, but apparently that's very rare. An extra bag or two is good as well because they do let you take home a bunch of stuff.

A lot of these things are unecessary, that's why I said you can *choose* what to take with you

I would add a sports bra that opens in the front, especially if you're breastfeeding.

That might be close since it says "film and tapes"!
