What to expect from ET?

Does it hurt? Can I take the train there? How long does it usually take? Should I lay down the rest of the day?

For me, it took about 2 minutes and didn't hurt at all. You can definitely take the train there and home. You don't want to go running or jumping around afterwards, but there's no reason to lay down the rest of the day. Remember, women get pregnant all the time and they don't stay laying down for weeks on end! If it's going to to work, then it'll work. Good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: What to expect from ET?

Are you doing IVF or IUI? With my son (IVF) they put me on bedrest for 2 days. I know some places say not necessary and some places say it is. I went so far as to take off of work for an additional 2 days and stay in bed lol. After the transfer they make you lay down for an hour and my husband drove me home. Honestly you have to do what you feel will help and be better for you. Its true women who get pregnant without any help dont do bedrest but then again those women dont go through what we do to get pregnant so alittle extra precaution wouldnt hurt.

It's a lot like an IUI. You're just supposed to take it easy after.

I took the train and cabbed it to the dr. It's a quick and totally painless procedure. They made me wait lay there for about 45 minutes. Then we cabbed it back to Penn and ate lunch then I went home and rested.

It was quick and painless for me, they had me lay down after for about an hour. Then we drove 40m home from nyc and I stayed on the couch for the entire rest of the day and night.

The following day I went back to work. I have an office job so I just tried to relax and take it easy.

They also told me not to lift anything over 2lbs and I wasn't allowed to work out and was to take it easy until after beta results.
