Question for moms who had a scheduled csection

So my cesection is scheduled for 8 am. Obviously something can happen to push it off a little but let's just assume it's on time. My hospitals visitng hours are 2-4 for siblings and grandparents. Does that mean my husband will have to wait to make his "It's a ____!" announcement until they can come up at 2:00? Or do they make exceptions for people who just had the baby? Im not sure when I should tell people to be there. Plus I'd like for DH to tell everyone in person all at once instead of making phone calls or having to wait 6 hours till visiting time.

Re: Question for moms who had a scheduled csection

Thanks girls, I hope my hospital is the same way.

When I had the twins it was an emergency csection. And by the time I had them, recovered and got into a room it was 10:00 at night but they let people in to see me just for a little bit. Even let my parents into the NICU to see the babies. But I wasn't sure if they only did that b/c otherwise everyone would have had to wait until the next day. I wasn't sure if the rules are different when it is planned.

Re: Question for moms who had a scheduled csection

i went into labor before my scheduled C section and delivered at 3:52pm. by the time i got a room visiting hours were over (8pm) but all my visitors were allowed to stay until 9pm because they didn't have a room for me...

it also depends on how strict the hospital is

Re: Question for moms who had a scheduled csection

When I was being discharged a new mom was being moved to my room from recovery. Her family had waited in the waiting room and after baby was born he ran the to make the announcement. Not sure if they had seen baby yet, but once mom was settled in our room they let the family come see her for 10 mins even though it wasn't visiting hours.

PS regarding timing, just be prepared for the possible delay. I was scheduled for 330 but due to hospital delays, I didn't have DS until 841pm!!

Re: Question for moms who had a scheduled csection

I had dd by emergency c-sec at 5:39 in the morning at St. Charles. My ob took dd out to the waiting room for my whole family to see around 6:30. This time I'm going scheduled c-sec and my whole family will be there again. I'm sure they will be allowed to see the baby after she is born.

Mine was at 10am & visiting hours were at 2 but We had both our families there. They had to wait in the waiting area then they got to see DD in the nursery and they let my mom back to see me in recovery. They were only able to stay for a little bit then came back at 2.

Re: Question for moms who had a scheduled csection

My whole family came and waited in the waiting room until I had my DDs (I had a scheduled C both times). The nurses even wheeled them out into the hall on the way to the nursery so my family could see them. Then they all went and had breakfast and came back for visiting hours later. This was at St. Charles Hospital.
