When are you turning your heat off for the spring summer?
I don't know whether to get more oil, or turn it off.
edited to clarify-ours is on a thermostat as well, and we have it programmed not to go on. But I guess what I really wanted to know is when will you be lowering your boiler for 'summer' and turning the thermostat off? (we do not have a/c)

Re: When are you turning your heat off for the spring summer?
Our heat has been off this whole week that it's been so warm, and I'm hoping to keep it that way. If it happens to get cold again we may have to turn it back on, though.

Re: When are you turning your heat off for the spring summer?
Our heat hasn't turned on these last few days. I know the weekend will be much cooler so we will definitely wait until after the weekend. We have a toddler so I like to keep the house comfortable for him. If we didn't, I think we would turn it off now.

Re: When are you turning your heat off for the spring summer?
I turned the heat down to 60 over the weekend. If I can keep it that low consistenly for 2 weeks or so, I will turn it off completely.

See, we keep the house at 60/61 at night now...and 62 during the day if we're home.
I think we are going to turn it off.

Re: When are you turning your heat off for the spring summer?
Ours is programmed to go on when the house dips down to a certain temp. With the warm weather lately, the house has been too warm for the heat to kick on. So while it's technically still "on", it's not on because its not cold enough!

I turned it off yesterday but if I get cold it will go back on. It won't go on though if it is too warm out. We get our oil 12 months out of the year (on budget).

Re: When are you turning your heat off for the spring summer?
I changed the thermostat to 60, so if it dips below the heat will kick on. My house was so hot last night we were pretty uncomfortable

Same.
Ours too. I don't really worry about the heat being "on" until it's time to switch to the AC mode.

We have had the a/c on now and again for the past week. I live in VA. It was 85 down here yesterday. My DH says we are the new FL heat wise.

Re: When are you turning your heat off for the spring summer?
I will turn it off permanently for the summer when I don't need it anymore. I had it off for a few days then one day it was a bit raw so I turned it on. Today it's on but set very low so it probably didn't kick in.

Re: When are you turning your heat off for the spring summer?
Ours is still set at 65 but we've only heard it turning on and off at night. During the days it has been at 66 or 67 on it's own. We won't turn it off completely until we know we can not have it on and still be comfortable at night. But we also have kids now, when we didn't it got turned on later in the fall and turned off sooner too.

I haven't used the heat the past several weeks & hoping not to have to turn it on again this season.
