bloodwork?
My doctor gave me a prescription for early pregnancy bloodwork. There are like 14 or 15 tests she wants me to have! Does anyone know if it will be a separate vial of blood for each test?

Re: bloodwork?
Probably not, but if I remember correctly, it was about 6 or 7 vials at that first visit!

Re: bloodwork?
Ok that makes me feel better. I asked because last week I had to get bloodwork to check for 3 tests and they took 3 vials, so I thought it was a vial per test. I'm such a baby when it comes to needles. I think I would need DH to come and hold my hand if they had to do 15 vials

I'm the same way. The first round of blood tests was 6 vials and it went by quick. People kept telling me that I'd get over my fear of needles when I get pregnant but I have a feeling they're wrong. I try to strike up conversation with the person drawing my blood, that usually helps and makes it go by quicker.

I have a feeling I'm going to have to get used to needles pretty quickly. I've already had my blood drawn 3 different times in the past week and now I have to go back for all these tests. I feel like the people at the lab are going to start to recognize me. One technician already remembered me the last time I was there. I wonder how often bloodwork has to be done throughout pregnancy.

I had a miscarriage with a lot of complications last year. This included a stay in the hospital, 5 IV's in one week, 2 tests with dye contrast and so much blood taken I lost count. I'm convinced that if that didn't get me over my fear of needles nothing will.
