Thoughts on an idea....
I am considering doing a "class" or small instructional session on internet topics. SO many people mention that they would like to learn how to use eBay, Peapod, eBates, etc. I would do a very basic instructional class just to give people a starting point.
My question is, do you think it would be tacky of me to charge for such a "class". I was thinking of only like $5-$10 a person.
I would definitely charge if I had to pay to rent a room (at a hotel or meeting space). But if I get a free venue, would it be tacky to profit off such a thing?
p.s. would YOU attend such a class? Just curious to see feedback.

hmm, not sure. I wouldn't charge for the first class, but over time you could totally do it. You're very savy and could have patience with people.
Personally I wouldn't attend. I think I'm pretty savy online (your ebay competition...lol) but I know several of our others friends are much more clueless and always ask for your advice so give it a shot

I'd maybe offer a free session at first to gauge the level of interest and participation, and then start charging later on.
I personally wouldn't take a class like that, just because I don't have a problem figuring out those types of sites myself, but I do know several people who would benefit from one!

I wouldn't pay for a class like that and can't really imagine how much there is to learn about ebates & peapod that would require more than a quick explanation unless someone is unfamiliar with using the web or shopping on the web in general....that would require a different type of class.
I can see doing an eBay tutorial that includes tips for listing, shipping, resolutions to common issues, how to report non-paying buyers along with info about using PayPal.
Of course, if there are people willing to pay for it...go for it.
You might want to consider self publishing ebooks on specific topics. Once it's written, you're done. Marketing would be an issue but between blogging & FB you could probably make a few bucks on it.

Our local high school offers adult continuing education classes for these types of things. One night a week for a few weeks, and they charge a fee for classes taken at the schools.
Maybe you can see if your local community has something like this and see if they need instructors.

Our library offers the same but the classes are free.
I consider myself somewhat internet savvy so it wouldn't be for me but I'm sure there is a huge interest among senior citizens.

I guess many of the people that mention it to me are in an older age bracket. Yes, we younger ones find these sites easy, but I think it's a security thing. They want someone to show them once and then they are more comfortable with it.

If the class was for senior citizens then i wouldnt charge. Many are on a fixed income. Plus the library offers these types of classes for free.
