Shellac type manicures....They never last for me
I tried Gelish/Gelxay manicures last summer and they lasted about a week for me. I got a shellac manicure this past Thursday and today (Tuesday), one whole entire nail peeled off.  4 days!! 
I love the concept of these types of manicures, but they just don't work for me. Anyone else have this problem?

i just got my first shellac brand manicure 10 days ago and they are still completely on! there are cracks in 2 of the nails but no peeling. i haven't been picking at them or anything. i am very happy with them compared to regular nail polish.

I go the Shellac done on Sunday and today (Thurs) they still look perfect. Maybe it has to do with how long your nail place had your hand sit in the UV light?

Where are you going?
They last two wks for me with some minor peel or cracks.
They seem to be doing something wrong. even too many layers with make them peel.

The first time I did it, it lasted a full 2 weeks and looked perfect.
The second time, it lasted 3-4 days. BUT, after doing the shellac, I cleaned my whole apt and didn't use gloves. I think the exposure to the cleaning products may have ruined the shellac.
Did you do any cleaning soon after doing the manicure?

I got one last Thursday and so far every nail is still perfect EXCEPT my thumb- but that is my fault- I broke my nail at work yesterday- just cracked the whole nail and the nail peeled off along with the polish.
I really thinnk it's a matter of the application. The guy who did mine was SUPER careful and spent a ton of time brushing on the color etc...to the point where I just wanted to get out of there he was taking so long!

It really depends on the person doing it and how they prep it. I had done at the same place and 2 people do it the best. The last time ALL my nails peeled after 3/4 days. I was pissed because by me it is $35

They aren't doing it right if it is not lasting the 2 weeks.
At my last appointment, the girl who normally does mine was out, so someone else did it.
I felt like she had me over exposing my nails to the light each time. It took more than an hour to complete - which is not normal.
The next day I had splits on 2 of my tips (I had a French Manicure). I was out of the office on Friday (I get them done in mid town) by the time Monday came 5 nails had lifted and/or cracked.
I walked back in there Monday afternoon and had them redone by the girl I always see. They are just starting to crack a bit and I'm nearing the end of 2 weeks.

Never lasts on me either.
What does work for me is a regular manicure and Essie no chips ahead top coat. If I put it on every day or every other my manicure stays pretty good for the entire week.

Shellac doesn't last on me. I get perm acryilic french. That puppy lasts 3 weeks.

I had it done at 2 different places. The first place did Shellac and it chipped after 2 days (same as a regular manicure). The second place did the OPI Axxium and I had four nails peel off after 4 days.
It's a waste of money for me.

The last time I got it done it peeled off that day went back had them re-do it & didn't even last a week. I don't think my nails like them

I had the same issue! I only had a shellac manicure once and it chipped 2 days later I will never get it done again! I like the idea of it but its a lot of money to spend for it not to even last 1 week

I've had a few manicurists tell me that my nails are too weak. Anything other than acrylic -- always lifts on me!

I have gotten them done at 3 different places - the place my mom goes to in queens, a place in Bethpage and then a place in Syosset. They can't all be doing it wrong, kwim? I am under the light for 120 seconds each coat. It's just so frustrating!
The first 2 times I thought they may not have lasted long bc my hands were in water a lot (doing dishes, bathing my kids etc..). This time my DH bathed the kids and did not have them in water that much.
I think I will try it one more time and that's it!

I got them done 2 weeks ago for the first time and they peeled off within 4 days. I found that the new Sally Hansen sticker things last much longer than those gel nails did!!!

If had it done in a few spots too and it just didn't work for me.
