Team Green Come on In
Why did you choose to stay Team  ?
DH is adamant about finding out what we're having, but I'm worried he'll be a little disappointed if it's a  . Most of my friends who had babies recently were team and they have great reasons but DH is not convinced yet. I could go either way.

To me there's nothing more amazing than that feeling of "it's a _____!" after 9+long months and labor and delivery. This is my first and I cannot wait for that surprise, which I'm expecting any day now.
Also, all the guessing is so much fun. Everyone's always telling me their opinions and theories and it's so much fun!!!
Lastly, it makes labor and delivery so much more exciting for everyone else too. I know when I have friends in labor and we know the sex, yes I'm excited and happy for them. But when they're team I definately check my phone more anxiously awaiting boy vs girl.
Team GREEN all the way!!! Do it!!!!!
There's no reason anyone NEEDS to find out. There's nothing you HAVE to prepare. The surprise is soooo much fun!!!

I totally agree!!! My bestie just had a birth and everyone went crazy waiting to find out what she had (). But hubby is so neurotic that the guessing would probably kill him!  He says he'll be surprised "when he finds out at the appt."

We were team green with my first.
It was VERY exciting to get to the end and have that wonderful anticipation to find out the sex at birth. For us, the baby came 2 months early in a scary type of situation which ended with an emergency csection, but the fact that I would soon be finding out if I had a son or daughter gave me something positive to keep focused on.
The moment the doctor told us it's a boy, was THE most emotional and happy moment. My DH was 100% convinced that the baby was a girl and you should have seen his happy reaction. He didn't care either way, he just thought it was a girl. But nope, we had a beautiful and thankfully healthy baby boy.
AND the best part was that he had the beautiful job of leaving the OR and going out to our family to say "It's a Boy!" - wouldn't want to take that away from him!
Now, with this baby, we both agreed we wanted to know. We loved the team green experience, and wanted to experience the other side of it this time. We had them put the baby's gender in a sealed envelope and we opened it in front of family on Christmas Eve. It was also a beautiful and very emotional moment and I'm so happy to have had it. In my case, I'm very happy we have both experiences to look back on, but I wouldn't change either.

I can't even describe how amazing it was when we found out in the delivery room. I had a really rough third trimester, was put on bedrest and then induced 2 weeks early. The induction was long and ended in a c-section. I think the anticipation of finally finding out helped me get through all of that. DH was the one who told me we had a son. After being Team Green the first time, I can't imagine doing it any other way.
I'm not a big planner, I don't mind gender neutral newborn clothes and the big items were gender neutral anyway because we planned on having more kids. I didn't feel any less bonded to the baby because I didn't know what we were having. For us, it was totally worth the wait.

IMO, it's one of the few great surprises left in life. Nothing better than hearing, "It's a _______."
With my nephew, my sis knew she was having a boy and we knew what his name was going to be. When he was born, it was like, "Awesome, B. is here." Obviously we were excited to hear about the birth, but I think it's more exciting when you don't know ahead of time.

we were team green for all the reasons mentioned above as well. although i am a huge planner, i forced myself to get over that aspect since it really isnt that important. My DH has 2 sons from a prior relationship and he was team green with the first but found out with teh 2nd and he said the experiences were so different and he would always want to be team green in the future.
like another poster mentioned, its still exciting to birth a baby but if you already know the sex and name its like oh cool baby so and so is here.
ask DH what his reasons are for needing to find out? if you feel their may be some disappointment in gender then i would def wait because i kinda was rooting for a girl and once i saw my lil boy's face all of that disappeared. no gender disappointment at all
-having people guess is fun
-giving you that extra motivation while in labor to know what you are about to have
-a great life surprise
-keeping friends and family on the edge of their seats as well wanting to know what it is
-DH having the moment of announcing it to the family

I am a total planner and control freak so we found out the gender for #1. We decided to stay team for this one to have that total moment of suprise that is such a rare thing. It is hard and so many times I was tempted, but once I got past the 20 week scan I got excited to be team and the not knowing. It is kinda fun.

ITA. We are , and everyone thinks we should find out, just cause they are twins. Sure, we have to pick 4 names and register for 2 of everything, but I've waited this long to have a child, I'm determined not to cave. Thankfully DH is on the same page.

Ditto to this exactly.
And no matter what anyone who finds out ahead of time tells me...I'll never feel any differently. There is next to no excitement left when the baby arrives when you know ahead of time (please no flame throwing here)....you already know sex and name....the weight is the most exciting question at that point. IMO there is a HUGE difference in the level of excitement when finding out at week 20 vs when the baby pops out of you. There is NOTHING that will ever replace that moment in the delivery room for me. And for my sister's kids...I was at hospital for all 6 births....the anticipation in that waiting room is crazy and so much fun. You literally sit on the edge of your seat waiting for the news. I have a video I wish I could share of my bro-in-law coming out to tell us....he is sobbing so hard he can barely get it out and we are all attacking him "WHAT IS IT?" - one of the greatest moments. For my other sister for all 4 of hers my bro-in-law would come out and get us....and the huge parade of us would all parade into the delivery room seeing my sister holding this new baby and we still didn't know what it was until she gave us a name.....I get the chills just thinking about the moment...totally the best feeling ever. Then the entire room bursts into tears and cheers once we found out what it was. Sure can you get that excited at 20 weeks? - yes. But then there's nothing left for the actual moment IMO.

We found out with my son, but when I was in labor, my husband and I kept talking about how much more exciting it would be if we didn't know what we were having and we decided right then and there that we will not find out with #2. So here we are Team 'till the end

We were team green with my DD 6.5 years ago. It just seemed like the right thing to do. It seemed the most exciting to me and there was nothing to me like hearing "It's a baby girl!" in the delivery room when she was born.
I was really on the fence this time around. It has been over 6 years since my DD was born! Everyone keeps telling us we are crazy and I will admit that the temptation has been there. I know it would have been so much easier to plan for this baby if we knew what we were having.
My Dad passed this past October. One of the conversations that I had with him before he died was about whether or not we should find out what we were having. He specifically asked us not to, and so we have respected his wishes.
We will know in 35 days anyway!

I couldn't say it any better. There is just something so exciting about waiting for someone to have a baby when you don't know the gender. It is one of the true surprises in life. I love hearing, "It's a ___" and then the name.
We are making the nursery gender neutral, and will use the same room for our next child as well, regardless of gender.

I needed to know what I was having when I was pregnant with my first. I lived in a one bedroom apartment and needed to plan- I was/am a planner. It was such a great feeling finding out at the appointment, being able to shop for her, pick out her coming home outfit, call her by name when we spoke to her, buy things personalized for her. Seeing my babygirl for the first time was an incredibly amazing feeling!
This time around, we decided to be team green. I figured we already had the necessities for a baby, and girl clothes if it's a girl. We have plenty of friends who have generously agreed to give us clothes if it's a boy (which I think it is!!). I am excited to be surprised at the birth this time rather than the 20week appointment. I am more relaxed this pregnancy, as most 2nd time moms are, and I don't *need* to plan.
I am enjoying both experiences. Many of my friends who have had both experiences say the exact same, it was wonderful both times around!

in retrospect, the fact that i didnt know what i was having really helped me get through 27 hours of labor, 3 hours of pushing, and eventual c-section.

I wanted to be team green with my first and still.regret finding out at the 20w. I let DH convince me to find out.
This time around, although he still wants to know I refused  I am less than three months away and DH thinks I am going to want to know. I have absolutely no desire. I am going to try a vbac and can't wait to hear the news then!
