Umbilical cord stump
sorry but the look of the thing scares the crap at of me and grosses me out. anyone else? i was just dying looking at pics online.

this. Plus, the first couple of weeks are a blur and the stump falls off before you know it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I guess it will be different once it's MY baby's stump and I have to clean it etc but yes, it does give me the jeebies.
My SIL and I'm sure many other mothers save the stump when it falls off I'm just hoping the dogs don't eat it before I can throw it out

Both of my DC's stumps fell off before we even left the hospital! I never really has to clean it or care for the area. I am a little freaked by it too. When DD's fell off on the hospital the other day, the nurse brought it to me in a bag to take home I was like "no thanks, we can throw that our right now". She said some people want to take it home an others have the same reaction I did.
