Crashing with question for all you preggos

Hi ladies,

DH and I are going to start TTC in the spring. We recently moved upstate NY and I need to find a new gyno. I'm not sure if I need to decide what hospital i'd want to give birth in and then find a gyno affiliated with that hospital or if I find a gyno first and then give birth at their hospital. Either way, I don't have any personal reccs for a gyno or a hospital in this area so I feel I'm just confused about the process. Any suggestions?

Also, I've heard that your gyno isn't necessarily the doctor who will be delivering your baby anyway? How does this work?

When I moved and needed a new doc, I picked one affiliated with the hospital I was told I would want to deliver at.

My OB is in a practice with a number of other drs. I see her for my routine annual visits when not pregnant but, when pregnant - I see any of the drs in the practice because whomever is on duty that day will be the one delivering the baby.

I knew I wanted to deliver at the hospital by our house since they have a great maternity and nicu ward.

I picked an ob that delivers at that hospital. More specifically, my friend is a nicu nurse at the hospital so I asked her for a recommendation. I needed to change gynos since my gyno is in the city where I work.

That being said, my ob is in a practice with like 5 other doctors and I had to have an appt with each one throuhout my pregnancy because there may be a chance that any one of them may deliver my baby if my ob is not available/

Oh how far upstate are you? You may be able to get some hospital recs here?
