I got my completion coupon in the mail yesterday...
Yet there are no signs of me having a shower or a sprinkle any time soon. This is baby #2 and so I know that I shouldn't expect a shower or a sprinkle. But since there was 6.5 years between the two pregnancies, I kinda thought it might be a possibility. My sister and I always said (from when the girls were about 4-5 years old and on) that if either of us got pregnant we'd throw eachother a shower since so much needs to be replaced after 5+ years.
At this point the baby is coming in 39 days. I am anxious to get some things ready for the baby. I'm starting to waddle and don't want to wait until I am too uncomfortable. Between my completion coupons and the trade in event going on at BRU, I can get a lot of stuff for a really good price. Should I just go and do some major shopping this weekend? Or keep waiting?

The thing is...my registry was pretty small. 30 items...which isn't alot compaired to my 100+ item registry 6 years ago for DD! The things that I really need...like sheets, changing table pad, stroller, bottles, diapers, etc...I would really like to buy. But then...there won't be much left on it!

I would get some big things you need. u dont want to wait in the hopes of a sprinkle & then have to pay higher prices.
can u mention to your sis that you are going to take advantage of the trade-in thing at BRU & use your completion discount? see if she tries to stall you from doing that & maybe that could be a hint for you?

Re: I got my completion coupon in the mail yesterday...
I've mentioned it to my sis and she said "I wish I had some things to trade in if we ever have another baby, we lent so much to other people and didn't get it back." So she was really vague on it and it didn't really give me any feedback....
Dh just keeps saying "When do people normally do this kinda thing?" I think he has no clue...
I would think that if they were planning anything that they'd have asked me for some addresses by now. 6.5 years has passed since my last shower. Back then a lot of my then coworkers came to my shower. I haven't worked in 4 years. I don't see my coworkers as often, I wouldn't think it would be right to invite them out of the blue.
Yet I have newer friends. .. the moms of my DD's friends, who I see several tiems a week and have gotten very close to who would probably like to go...we do so much together anyway!

I would flat out ask DH to check with your sister if anything is in the works. It doesn't sound like it, but maybe they really are waiting for the last minute?
Personally I'd start buying what I need and just keep it wrapped/sealed. Leave the list as is and if they do decide to do something last minute, you can use your receipts to return the stuff you bought if you get it as a gift too.

If you don't want to flat out ask, maybe you can tell your sister that you got the completion coupon in the mail and you're going to go this weekend to pick up the stuff from your registry and see if she wants to go with you. Maybe you can get a better idea of what's going on based on her reaction.

Yeah I'd do this or even just give it a little more time. They may have something planned but maybe did it later to try and throw you off. Either way there really isn't much you need right this minute. I would wait another week or two and then go get what you need. Don't forget people buy things when the baby is born too and I know I always look to see if there is something left on the registry rather than buying another outfit or blanket.

I got my completion coupon too! I am trading in DD's older Britax Marathon and getting a new one soon! It'll save me about $75!
But I do know I am having another shower. It's been 8 years since my last shower and 6 years since my last child. I have a very small registry, basically diapers, wipes, towels, bibs, sheets, etc. I went ahead and got everything I knew I would need right away.
At this point, I am not even sure if the baby will hold out until the 18th!! It's just my mom, 2 sisters, a friend or two and an aunt or two.
I would buy what you absolutely need when the baby first comes home. Save the registry and possible shower items for things you will need later down the line (high chair, another stroller, feeding items, etc.).

ITA. I would wait another little bit just in case!
