Best Yet Supermarket...has anyone been there?

A Best Yet Supermarket opened near me over a year ago and I haven't tried it. Stop and Shop is closer and very clean but I'm tired of the workers on their phones. It's getting insane. I want to try some place else. There is an IGA in Copaigue near me that I have never been to but I went to the IGA in Massapequa once because I had a friend that worked in the deli in high school and was so skeeved by the whole place, esp the deli, that I never want to go into another IGA again. I've heard that it's way better since they renovated it and I know they aren't all the same but I just can't stomach the thought of going to another one.

I was just wondering how Best Yet was. Are the prices good? How is the deli...clean? Is the store clean? Are the people working there nice and helping or always on their phones lol?

I like Best Yet. I've shopped at the Oakdale and West Islip locations. They're both clean and the workers are friendly too.

They have great prices on their cold cuts (Boar's Head); the line is always long as a result so it takes awhile, but you know it's fresh.

I usually find their dairy prices to be less than the other supermarkets too.

They're small stores, so maneuvering the shopping cart is sometimes a challenge, but I'm a bad driver to begin with, lol.

Re: Best Yet Supermarket...has anyone been there?

The one in Farmingdale is awesome! I go there all the time (drive back to where I grew up from W babylon where we live now) for fresh veggies and fruits. The deli is slow, but very clean and they package the meat/cheese very well. I absolutely LOVE their fresh chopped chicken that the meat department makes. I only use that...never beef anymore.

It's not a very big store, but the fruits and veggies are totally worth it!

I've been to the one in West Islip a few times. It's quaint (which is very nice in this day and age) but I also find it cramped. I think they're prices are competitive to supermarkets but not as good as Target / Walmart, etc.

I've only been to the one in west Islip. You can get a really good deal on produce but I find that it goes bad quickly. I don't mind that, a lot of the produce is local, but you can only buy what you will use that day or the next.

The spices are pretty cheap there as well.

Definitely like it, but not the same experience as S&S or any of the other bigger stores.

The aisles are tiny and the produce definitely doesn't last as long. Prices are great!

Re: Best Yet Supermarket...has anyone been there?

i love the one in oakdale. that is actually my go to supermarket now. unless i go to uncle gs. i tried the best yet in massapequa and it wasnt as nice as the one in oakdale. they have great prices.
i actually am not crazy about getting the cold cuts there tho. they take a long time (although the massapequa store calls you on the over head speaker when your number is up-so i guess you can shop) i like to go to iga in bohemia for cold cuts.
in your area though I like the king kullen in lindenhurst.

Re: Best Yet Supermarket...has anyone been there?

I've been to the one in Hicksville. I hated it! It was so tiny and impossible to get down the aisles. I didn't see anything too great with the prices. The grapes I got went bad 2 days later. I haven't been back since.
ETA- It seemed like dingy to me. I was kinda skeeved by the whole place.

I live up the road from the Coram one, I buy all of my produce there, it's so inexpensive. Cold cuts and meats are usually less expensive too. I split my shopping between there and Trader Joes

Prices for the meats, fruits , veggies, bread and deli.are great but for a normal shop the prices are higher then a regular super market hth.

They have a great produce section and awesome meat specials. I always get their filet mignon when it's on sale.

I've only been to the Coram one and thought it was gross inside. Just didn't seem clean at all.

There is a Best Yet near my job in Astoria which I love! so I decided to try the one by me in Hicksville, I decided to just walk in first to see how it is and I had the same reaction as you Chat Icon small, dingy, not clean...I am sure there are better ones on the Island.

Re: Best Yet Supermarket...has anyone been there?

I've driven by the one you are talking about hundreds of times and never stopped either because S&S is like a sneeze away from my house.

We have friends though that live in Lindenhurst who only shop here and the wife is a big cook/foodie.

I went in IGA once since I've lived here and was also skeeved out. I also can't stand that parking lot in general since it's always packed and no one looks where they are driving.

Re: Best Yet Supermarket...has anyone been there?

DH inhales two sandwiches a day for lunch so I like to get a good deal on deli meat. I get all his deli meats at the best yet you are talking about and I like it a lot there. I also get some produce there, but I find that they tend to go bad quicker then let's say S&S. Like others have said, the deli line is long, so I like to get there early or late before they close. And yuck to Copiague IGA, it's right up the block from me and i will only go there on extreme emergencies.

I've been to the one in East Northport, but, definitley prefer IGA over it which is right down the road.

Our IGA is so clean, the deli service is great and it's a good store to run in if you need to do a quick shop.

For big shopping, I go to Stop n Shop because they double coupons, it's definitley bigger and a bit cheaper than IGA.

Re: Best Yet Supermarket...has anyone been there?

The south Farmingdale one is great. Also the Massapequa one too. The Franklin Square is good, just the aisles are too small. I tend to go when they first open to avoid the crowded aisles.

They're going to open one in East Patchogue, but if Shirley, West Islip and Coram are any indication, I don't expect much.

Love best yet
Can't beat their prices.
Not always the cleanest and now and then there's a bad batch of produce like the limp the cukes I had to turn away from but I do most of my regular shopping there. Why pay 4 bucks for a head of cauli if I can get it for a buck at best yetChat Icon

Eta the aisles are so small I sometimes have to "park" my cart when I go up and down the aisle but I've got it down o a science now I go at 8pm since they close at 9 they r way less crowded

I really like the one in Massapequa. I go to it often on the way home from my parents. They don't have a huge selection like Waldbaums does, but it does good for me.

I live around the block from the one in Farmingdale. I love it for quick stops, fruits and veggies, cold cuts, milk, eggs, or when I just need to buy one thing. But for our major food shopping we still go to Stop and Shop because I think they have a better selection.

I love it! I would not do my full shopping trip there but the deli meat is great (boarshead) and the produce is such great prices and fresh. I shop there frequently and love it!
