To give or not to give......
Do you PLAN on giving your little one a pacifier?
I gave one to DD right away and 19 months later she still can't get rid of it. It's def. a hard habit to break. My DH thinks we shouldn't even start this baby on a pacifier so we won't have the problem we are having with DD but it's much easier said than done.
I am debating this right now. I just wanted to see what you ladies PLAN to do.

I plan on it ~ I was very lucky with DS #1 he just gave it up on his own at 1 year. Hopefully #2 will be the same.

This time around I didn't buy any and will see if DD # 2 takes to the hospital one. DD # 1 is giving us hell with hers and she will be 3 next month

Re: To give or not to give......
My DS never wanted one..However, i always felt like my son was always a "harder" baby because of it..he would fuss a lot...I feel like babies who take pacifiers are easier because when they fuss, you just give them the pacifier and then they are good.
So, i'm torn....
But I admit, that it was nice not having to try to get him out of a pacifier habit.

Re: To give or not to give......
My plan is no.... unless of course im at my breaking point... but i'd rather just not go down that road... i wouldnt give up my binkie until i was like 5 yrs old... and now my teeth are fcuked up... rather not start the kid on it at all

Re: To give or not to give......
I plan on giving the baby one. I tried not to with ds1 & he was miserable. After I finally broke down & gave him one he was so happy - and I was happy! He was also VERY easy to get off of them so I've got a rosy outlook. I'm hoping the next baby is as easy & I'm not in for a rude awakening lol

Re: To give or not to give......
Im going to see if he takes one or not. I heard from some friends of mine to help get rid of the pacifier when they are older to cut a hold in it because they like the sucking action, but when there is a hole in it they do not like the sensation when the air goes through it. Just a suggestion though for those trying to get rid of it!!!

Re: To give or not to give......
DS stopped taking it around 3 months when I stopped exclusively pumping and started only EBF. Now I can't get him to stop nursing even though I am pregnant and dried up he won't stop using ME as the binky. He only does it at night time but he can't go to sleep without me. I'm trying to break the habit and it is so hard. I have no clue what I am doing with the next one. Ugh.

100% yes (if she'll take it)
My theory is that it does make for a less fussy baby and it's better than thumb sucking. You can take away a pacifier - can't take away a thumb...

Re: To give or not to give......
I plan on it. The baby book I was reading said it was fine, but to make sure you take it away from them by 6 months...or its gonna be soooo hard to get them to stop.

Re: To give or not to give......
If the baby will take it, I'll probably give it. I wasn't planning on giving one to DS, but he ended up in the NICU and they give pacifiers to babies. DS loved it and the pacifier really soothed him. He was obsessed with the paci for a long time, but eventually gave it up on his own (a few months before turning 3).

Re: To give or not to give......
DS took the paci until he was 7-8 mos and then he just chewed on them... We never gave it to him just to have it, only when he was "getting hungry" and it wasn't time to eat. We didn't use it to "pacify" him whenever he wanted...We plan on giving the paci to DS 2 and 3 and handle it the same way.
