Motherhood Maternity VENT! (long)
Today I went shopping for the first time for some maternity stuff.
I went to the big Motherhood Maternity/Destination Maternity/A Pea in the Pod store that is across from the Roosevelt Field Mall.
My mom and I were walk in and go all the way to the back of the store where there are bras and underwear. As we reach that back area of the store, an employee sees us and says "oh, who are we shopping for today?"
Both my mom and I heard her say this. I said "we are shopping for me" and my mom promptly follows with laughter saying "well, we certainly are not shopping for me"... while my mom was saying this, I began to browse the racks of underwear in the plastic packages.
This woman proceeds to b!tch at my mother about how I ignored her when she asked her question. Apparently, she said "oh, WHAT are we shopping for today?" but we both heard WHO. Instead of asking her question again or anything, she was saying how I was rude to my mother because I ignored her and didn't answer her question even though I answered the question I believed to have heard with "we are shopping for me". If she felt like I ignored her, she should have come to me and re-asked me instead of complaining to my mom.
It gets worse.
I turned to her and all I said was "excuse me? I didn't hear your question correctly". She then rolls her eyes and gives us attitude as she said "well I guess I'll leave you alone here" and turned her back to us and walked away. She should have tried to help again (if that was her attention) or left with dignity by saying "well if you need anything let me know" and THEN walk away. But she didn't. She just huffed away.
It gets even worse.
When I go to pay for the package of underwear, she is the only one at the register. She says "Who helped you with this today?". I said "You did, I guess" because she was the one who greeted me and it sounded like they work on commission since they ask. I thought I was being nice by saying she could put the sale under her name. Well she responded with a HUMPF sound and said "oh, really?" in this rude way. So I was like well, I guess I helped myself then. What is the big deal?
It gets worse.
So she continues to ring me up with a lot of unnecessary attitude. When I finish swiping my credit card, paying and she puts it in the bag she goes "Oh by the way did you know those were 2 for $22?". I bought 1 at $16. I just said nicely "no I didn't" and she went "mmm huhhhh" like of course you didn't because you I didn't help you. So I then walked away. I SHOULD have been a b!tch and made her return the purchase and ring back up 2 packages but I just couldn't do it. Why would she wait until after to ask me that? The answer is just to be rude.
Now I feel like I had a bad experience there and got financially ripped off...
Pregnant people are already emotional and tired. Why do they hire the rudest most unprofessional people to work there? When I went shopping at the RF mall afterwards, everyone was so helpful and nice. UGH!!
Just needed to vent. I couldn't believe it.

I am not a fan of them at all!!! I am sorry that you had a bad experience there. Send an email ASAP to their customer service line with all of this AND your information from your receipt!

Thats awful that our had such an unpleasant experience. I am so surprised, I have only been there twice but everyone had been so nice...thats so weird that a sales person would act like that.

I have never had a good experience there. All of the salespeople I have found to be either pushy or complete biotches.

Wow, she should NOT be working in customer service! If I were you I would either call or email the manager. You didn't deserve to be treated like that. If I were you I wouldn't have bought anything from there.

THIS!!! Her attitude was completely UNACCEPTABLE... if anything I would have your mom call so they don't credit your complaint to "being pregnant and hormonal"... KWIM?? What an @$$hole.

I'm sorry you dealt with a rude person there. I went there last weekend and had a pretty good experience. I agree that they're kind of pushy and constantly on you, but the woman who assisted me was really helpful.

Was she an overweight woman with really short blond hair? That was the woman that was rude to me when I went to return something. But the rest of the staff was really nice When I came out of the dressing room crying hysterically because nothing fit.

ugh sorry that happened to you. i am not a fan of that store, i went in there and just felt like everything was SO expensive. My bellyband ended up costing me nearly $30, then i saw one in target for like, $17. figures.

Absolutely ridiculous! I would defiantely email or call customer service and pass on all of this information so that someone can let her know that she is supposed to be NICE and KIND to her customers!!!

Whoa, that is SO rude. WT F!?! I would have asked for her manager and complained. Who acts like that? If you ever intend to walk into another Motherhood store again - I recommend the one across from the Walt Whitman mall, they have always been so nice and helpful to me. Also - the one in the city is HUGE and the one time I went there this girl Carmen was very sweet and helpful.
However, there are plenty of other places to get your maternity clothes and you don't need the attitude!!!

UNreal!!! Even if she thought you were rude to her--- who in the world says anything like that to a customer!??! If a customer wants to ignore you, then you go leave her alone.
If you got her name, you should consider calling the manager.
