Baby Monitors

I have been reading that others can easily tap into both audio and video monitors and it is better to get one with DECT technology.

Any reco's on a baby monitor? Do you think video is worth it?

I have also been thinking about using other monitors that are not 'baby' specific. Has anyone done that?

I love my video monitor. It is by far the best give I recieved. I have the summer infant one. I have an older version then what is out now, since I got it three years ago. It is so wonderful being able to see the baby. Especially when he/she gets older. You will put them down for a nap or at night and they may make a funny noise or cry out. Instead of worrying and running into room, risking waking them up. You can just look at monitor and see if they are ok. ALso great when they start standing in crib, and trying to get out. You can watch to make sure they are okay.

I could not live without my video monitor, I agree - best gift we got!!!!!

We have the Summer Infant Baby Touch Color Video monitor. Its awesome.

And we live in a fairly small apartment, the nursery is right across the hall from our room ... so many people would say the video isn't necessary. As another LIF mom told me when I was deciding on this stuff, you can't see through walls
